1985 Lister Jaguar XJ-S Cabriolet (7.0 Litre) Transmission: manualMileage:9600Lister is one of the most renowned names in sports car racing history and the Lister Jaguar, designed by Brian Lister, swept almost all before it during its first full racing season in 1957. From the early 1980s the name has also graced some of the world's fastest road cars and in 1989, with the culmination of six years of development work, the Lister Le Mans arrived on the supercar scene. Christened 'Le Mans' to celebrate Jaguar's success there in the late 80's, the Lister totally transformed its Jaguar XJ-S base into a mega powerful 200mph supercar. It featured a 7.0 litre version of Jaguar's V12 engine, comprehensively re-worked to cope with its now 500 or so horsepower maximum output. A similar torque figure ensured stupendous acceleration in any gear. Needless to say, the suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres were uprated to cope, while a purposeful looking body kit ensured that the car remained stable at high speeds. In performance terms the Mk. III was in equally exalted company, its claimed 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds bettering that of the contemporary Ferrari Testarossa, as did the estimated top speed of circa 200mph.Originally converted in 1987, the car offered here is believed to be the only Mk. III Cabriolet made. Previously this Lister formed part of the Royal fleet and was later acquired in 1996 by a Mr. Meakins of Coventry who refurbished the car from top to bottom. Mechanical work was carried out by Lister Cars and included the 7.0 litre engine conversion, Getrag five-speed manual gearbox, sports suspension and a new sports exhaust system. Cosmetically the car benefits from twin headlamps, three-piece alloy wheels and traditionally styled dashboard instruments with capillary-type water and oil temperature gauges. Previously forming part of a small but specialist collection of Jaguars in Scotland, the XJ-S was purchased by the next owner in November 2008. The following owner purchased the Mk. III in 2012 and set about a comprehensive restoration undertaken by XJ-S specialists, KWE in Berkshire. Works carried out included removing the body kit; repairing the sills, front and rear inner wheel arches, front chassis members and boot floor. A new ECU was fitted and the gearbox was rebuilt by an independent specialist. The interior was re-trimmed in two-tone grey leather with matching carpets and at the owner's request, 'Lister' logos were incorporated into the headrests and door cards, while the hood and the cabriolet roof's steel panels were refurbished and re-trimmed. This Lister was featured in 'Jaguar World' magazine in December 2014 and comes with a sizeable history file including many sundry bills, the invoices of restoration totalling over £103,000, the current UK V5 registration document and a valid MoT test certificate. Also available are videos of the Lister running and driving. The prolific collector who acquired the Lister nine years ago reports that it will be driven to the sale and as such the mileage reading will differ slightly from the 9,600 showing at time of photography. We believe this Lister is the best example available today. The earth shattering noise that this car produces is justification enough to have it in any collection, let alone its rarity, quality and significance as a part of Jaguar's extraordinary history.Interested parties should note that that contrary to the catalogue description this vehicle was not part of the Royal fleet.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 263

1988 Jaguar XJS Convertible 'Press car' Transmission: automaticMileage:76704In 1975, the Jaguar E-Type finally gave way to an all new and more efficient Jaguar, the Jaguar XJ-S. Although never quite having the same sporting image as the E-Type, the final example of this new luxury grand tourer left the production line on 4th April 1996 at which stage 115,413 units had been manufactured during a 21 year production life. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph. This car is one of two very early pre-production cars built by Jaguar and Karmann in late 1987, both cars E814 LAC and E815 LAC (E815 being the earlier car) were used for development of the new XJ-S Convertible and press duties. This car was originally registered on 4th April to Jaguar Cars Ltd and immediately dispatched to the French Riviera for the XJ-S Convertible press launch in Cannes. Used extensively as the launch press car, appearances included a full feature in the Sunday Times magazine, television documentary Wheels: The Joy of Motoring and it was also used in the South of France for a road test for BBC’s Top Gear – the particular episode can be found on our website. Presented in Signal Red with Magnolia leather trim, this example was purchased from Jaguar Cars Ltd on 24th December 1988 by a Mr. Littlejohn, who transferred ownership from his company to himself in 2010 before he passed away and the car then passed to his son in 2014. Offered with the accompanying Heritage Certificate confirming that the car is as it left the factory, we are told the car was given a full body restoration in circa 2010/2011 and presents very well indeed covering merely 3,500 miles since. Offered with fabulous provenance, a copy of the Sunday Times magazine, original book pack with stamped service booklet, almost every MoT from new including the most recent one valid until February 2022 and service invoices. This is a significant part of Jaguar history and in very useable condition for enthusiasts or collectors. We also thoroughly recommend watching the Top Gear feature below;Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 270

1989 Jaguar XJS Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:51617The Jaguar XJS was a luxury grand tourer produced from 1975 through to 1996 and replaced the E-Type. Although it never had quite the same sporting image, the XJS was actually more aerodynamic with the last one being produced on 4th April 1996; at that stage 115,413 had been manufactured during a 21 year production life. Power came from the Jaguar V12 petrol engine with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission but the manual gearbox was soon dropped. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph.This left hand drive example was recently imported from the USA and is presented in metallic blue with great leather interior and also comes with a new hood. The present owner has carried out an extensive service on the car since its arrival in the UK and it comes with $14,000 worth recent invoices from work carried out in the US. This Jaguar is powered by the mighty 5.3 litre V12 which is mated to an automatic gearbox and as ever with these luxurious convertibles, they drive so well and are extremely comfortable on long journeys. The car comes with its original US Title document and a NOVA letter from the DVLA – a V5 logbook book will have to be applied for.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 283

2004 Jaguar XKR Carbon Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:87016The XK8 is a grand tourer car that was launched in 1996 and was the first generation of a new XK series available in both coupé and convertible body styles and with the new 4.0 litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The 1998 XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. Both the XK8 and XKR are electronically limited to a maximum of 155mph; the top speed of its predecessor, the XJS V12, being 158mph. A navigation system and self-levelling xenon headlamps came as standard with the XKR with Jaguar's adaptive cruise control as an optional feature available on both models. Both come with all leather interior, burr walnut trim and side airbags. Jeremy Clarkson, during a Top Gear test drive, likened the interior of the original XK8 to sitting inside Blenheim Palace. The Carbon Edition was offered by Jaguar in 2004 with only 100 cars produced. A split of 50 convertibles and 50 coupés were built, with a bonus for the lucky clientele of an invitation by Jaguar to a complimentary short break at Skibo Castle or Bovey Castle to celebrate their new purchase. This rare, desirable 2004 XKR Carbon Edition was supplied new to a very high specification. Finished in black, the interior features Recaro embossed cream leather sports seats, carbon fibre dashboard and internal inlays, Jaguar steeled pedals, aluminium embossed door entry guards, cream carpets and leather door cards, Alpine stereo system, adaptive cruise control, full colour information screen with satellite navigation and black leather bound multi-functional steering wheel. The exterior is also well-defined with a modified nose with a bright silver mesh front grille, factory fitted 20-inch Sepang performance R split cast alloy wheels, four chrome exhaust tips, performance R embossed red brake calipers, rear parking sensors and the signature XKR body detailing and vents. This Jaguar XKR has covered approximately 87,000 miles from new and this year has been completely gone through having all necessary repairs carried out. The car is supplied with a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2022 and handbook pack showing a full service history. This now highly rare, modern day classic offers a unique pathway into the heritage of Jaguar with quality examples such as this being sought after by Jaguar enthusiasts worldwide.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 288

1969 Jaguar XJ6 2.8 Transmission: automaticMileage:61240Launched in September 1968, the Jaguar XJ6 was the last model that Sir William Lyons had a, hands-on, input into the design. This new model was the result of several years of development and streamlined the extensive portfolio of models offered by Jaguar at the time. This new, reasonably priced car, managed to retain the principles of earlier Jaguars but offered a new level of driveability and safety. It created such a desire that second-hand models were achieving higher prices than new cars on dealership forecourts. These early models have outstanding ability and are considered by many enthusiasts as the purist form of Sir William Lyons’ design. This exceptional magazine featured early XJ6, was manufactured at Browns Lane on 8th December 1969 and was supplied initially to an engineering company based in Wolverhampton which is still trading today. An invoice for the sale of the car from 1970 for £2,468 is present in the history file. Finished in Jaguar Light Blue with dark blue Connolly leather interior, the car still retains all its early production features including chrome dials, straight exhaust pipe finishers, small rear lights, simple battery carrier with attached washer bottle, S1 wheel trims and original carpets. Servicing was initially conducted by the Jaguar factory service department but since 2000 it has been entrusted to Jaguar authorised retailers based in the Edinburgh area, or most recently by ex-Jaguar Classic technicians in Coventry, who carried out a major service and recommissioning work in 2020. In addition, the original engine was completely rebuilt by the respected specialist VSE in Wales, with only 11,000 or so miles covered since. The coachwork was restored at considerable expense by Classic Restorations in Scotland, renowned for their outstanding work on Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles. This included many new panels and a full repaint in the highly attractive original colour scheme. A considerable history file with numerous invoices accompanies ECG 438H, including the original owner’s manual and wallet, all the MoT test certificates since 1972, a number of vehicle tax discs, invoices for restoration, servicing and the engine rebuild and a copy of Jaguar World from 1993 which features this car and owner at the time. Offered to auction with a V5 registration document and a fresh MoT test certificate, this is a rare opportunity to own a stunning and highly original early Series I XJ. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 194

The Jaguar XJC 5.3 Cabriolet was originally released on August 29, 1974 produced as a coupe at Jaguar. This Jaguar was then delivered directly to AVON-STEVENS in Warwick, one of the most renowned bodywork companies in England, who were consulted when it came to special Jaguar constructions, both for special superstructures and for racing. The aim was to work together with the Jaguar factory to produce a competitive convertible to test the reaction of the noble customers. Sir William Lyons (founder of Jaguar) - was very impressed with the development, design and sophistication of this E-Type Cabriolet successor (in gallery an archive photo before the trade fair in Turin). This "prototype" convertible was sold directly at the “Salone dell'automobile di Torino” auto show in 1976 Italy and, despite the relatively high sales price, triggered further orders in England, Scotland, Australia and Hong Kong, so that another 11 right-hand drive 12-cylinder convertibles were sold. This remained the only left-hand drive 12-cylinder convertible ever built. In the 90s this unique cabriolet succeeded to its 2nd owner a famous artist in Italy. Careful care and maintenance have been invested in this XJ Cabriolet over the years. A current appraisal attests this single item to a market value of € 460,000. Additional services like large 154 pt. Year 1975, 12 cylinders, 268 hp, automatic transmission, 195 km/h top speed, leather interior. Comprehensive inspection, new TÜV, H approval, transport, registration in Germany, valuation reports, etc. are possible for a separate expense allowance.
