A pair of George III silver vegetable dishes and covers, by Andrew Fogelberg & Stephen Gilbert, London 1785, circular form, the slightly domed covers with beaded borders and sphere finials, hinged ring handles, engraved with a crowned crest and motto, with associated liners by James Garrard, London 1895, engraved with a crowned crest, diameter 21.9cm, total approx. weight 102.4oz. (2)The crest is that of the Earls of Gower, possibly The Second Earl Gower (1721-1803) who gained the Garter in 1771 and was made Marquess of Stafford in 1786.

Three Great War Medal Trios to: 1. 3469 Private John Romayne, Irish Guards, a 1914 Mons Star (unnamed) the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, Expeditionary Force France 1914, Wounded May 1915, with medal card, with copies of Short Service record, and Squadron, Troop, Battery and Company Conduct sheet, showing an extensive history of drunkenness, absence, quitting the ranks without permission, making an accusation against his sergeant, being out of bounds, refusing to obey an order, violently resisting the military police and much more. 2. 8411 Private Albers Callander, King's Own Scottish Borderers a 1914 Mons Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, a King's Own Scottish Borderers cap badge, discharged due to wounds, with copy of medal roll and research. 3. 13676 Corporal Edward P. Garrard, Dorset Regiment a 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, and a WWII Defence Medal. All with medal cards.
A fine set of GARRARD & CO Ltd, hallmarked silver and tortoiseshell place holders, each holder with detailed inlaid silver design, and in a fitted case stamped Garrard & Co Ltd, TO HM THE KING, CALCUTTA AND LONDON. (They are not in perfect condition, and all over general marks and some small chips and some damage/loss to one .

Charles I Indenture dated 1647, indenture on velum between Robert Carlton of Milton and William Stanford of Draycott, with schedule fully witnessed approx 70w x 35 cms together with two 17th century indentures on velum both dated 1649, the same year that King Charles I was executed, between Adam Gizzold and William Ailes of Drayton, one having the original red wax weights, approx 73 x 53 cms. This lot includes an interesting Abstract relating to a Mr William Pettits regarding Title to Farm Lands and other Premises at Up Lambourne in the County of Berkshire, dated from November 1667 through to September 1775, a synopsis of each lease agreement and with whom. Another George III indenture on velum dated 1762 between William Hiott (?) of Siddington Saint Peter in the County of Gloucester and Albert Gardner son and heir at law of Andrew Hiott (?) in the County of Berks declared of one part and Charles Laggott of Buscot aforesaid labourer of the other part, with two cypher seal. This lot concludes with a George II era velum document relating to a tenant farmer Thomas Garrard at Chipping Lambourn, who appears to have lodged a claim against his landlord Thomas Seymour, all other landowners in the area appear to have come together in support of Thomas Seymour and have drafted this document which bears their signatures and wax seals dated 1736. A Garrard & Co. civil MBE awarded to Mary Euphemia "Effie" Meiggs (Brooklyn, 1864-1948), lacking certification documents, casedMary Euphemia Meiggs, known as Effie was born an American but naturalised as a British subject in 1916. Whilst Effie remained unmarried, the family came from considerable wealth and several siblings married into the English aristocracy. Effie was involved in British business as a chairman ('Lakme and Cie' until 1910) but also took a philanthropic role in British society, being a supporter of the Mesopotamian Comforts Fund of which she was appointed general secretary in 1920. Several posters for fundraising and supportive events bear her name. Whilst the supporting papers for the MBE do not survive, it is believed that the MBE was awarded in 1919 for her unfailing support of this organisation.
