Antique Wedgwood Majolica Centerpiece Bowl In Bird And Fan Pattern With Silver Plated Base Rim And Twin Handles By Mappin Brothers Aesthetic movement bowl with vivid turquoise interior, circa 1880. Outer body decorated in relief with stylised exotic birds, blossoms and fan design. Silver plated ball feet, plated rim and twin handles, rim bearing impressed sun motif and 'Mappin Brothers' cartouche. Underside bearing wedgwood impressed mark and diamond factory mark along with painted numbers, 2816. Height, 6 inches, diameter approx 9 3/4 inches. Some crazing to interior and tarnishing to rim indicative of age.
A quantity of fans including a cased French example, a Sorrento example, peacock feathers, bone handled examples, etc. CONDITION REPORT: Cased fan is quite badly worn and has insect infestation in both left and right, has torn to the left and the centre and has fraying to the tipped ends, also one of the bones is split, various surface scratches and marks to the remainder.
