Della Robbia salad bowl circa 1898, incised by Aphra Peirce and painted by Gwendoline Buckler with cherubs and roses, incised and painted marks to base, 24.5cm diameter Illustrated in 'The Della Robbia Pottery Birkenhead 1894 - 1906' by Peter Hyland figure 216. Condition report: restorations to the widest edge of the body and foot rim. Overall crazing, some staining. Cracks to the metal band rim.
A Della Robbia bowl with central Tudor rose and radiating foliage with stylised fruit rim, incised to base "DR" and the sailing boat, also "RB" for Ruth Bare and "JS 15" for Jessie Sinclair, and a shallow bowl with organic pattern, incised to base "DR 1901" and boat and "CAW 57" for Cassandra Annie Walker, both dishes diameter approx 19cm (both af) (2). CONDITION REPORT: The Tudor rose bowl has been broken into four pieces and glued back together, crazing to the glaze and underglaze firing cracks to the underneath. The organic bowl has crazing and a bite shaped piece taken out which has been glued back, and antoerh bite shaped crack to the rim.

Con ritratto dell'Autore, antiporta e 16 tavole incise in rame. Ottimo esemplare ad ampi margini. Legatura moderna in pelle, titoli in oro al dorso. Ai contropiatti ex libris 'Ex Bibliotheca Gastronomica Claudio Bemporat'. Scritta su richiesta di Enrico IV e pubblicata a Parigi nel 1600, l'opera è considerata il primo trattato scientifico di agricoltura ed economia rurale francese. Si deve a de Serres l'introduzione in Francia della coltura del gelso e di numerose altre piante quali la robbia, il luppolo ed il mais. L'opera fu grandemente influenzata da quella del bresciano Agostino Gallo (vedi lotti 17, 19 e 143). Questa riedizione a cura di Louis-Augustin Bosc d'Antic è fra le più complete e ricercate ed è l'unica a contenere L'Essai historique sur l'état de l'Agriculture en Europe au seizième siècle di Grégoire oltre a un Vocabulaire des mots anciens et inusités de la France Méridionale.

A pair of Della Robbia plaques by Ellen Mary Rope, each rectangular, cast in relief with an angel praying, glazed green, yellow and turquoise, framed, impressed Della Robbia mark 40 x 31cm.
