A 9CT GOLD CHARM BRACELET, the fancy link bracelet suspending a total of thirty charms, to include an enamel cuckoo clock, a hinged caravan with enamel fortune teller inside, with a heart padlock clasp and safety chain, chain and clasp with 9ct hallmark, length 190mm, approximate weight 78.3 grams
A late 19c Black Forest chalet style cuckoo mantel clock retailed by Camerer Kuss & Co. The wooden framed double fusee movement should strike and cuckoo on the halves and hours but at present is jammed. The walnut case is profusely carved with vines and has bone numerals and hands and has a shingled roof and a cuckoo which appears above the dial. The clock stands 14.5in tall.
Comprising: a conical shaped weight, a spherical shaped weight, a stein with opening lid, a jug, a toaster with popping toast, a cuckoo clock with hanging chains, an expanding fan, an ornate mantle clock, a cine film camera opening to reveal a lady sunbathing and a lady in a bath tub which opens to show her shapely derriere.
RENOIR PIERRE-AUGUSTE: (1841-1919) French Impressionist Artist. A good and lengthy A.L.S., `Renoir´, three pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d., to an unidentified friend, in French. Renoir explains to his correspondent his meetings with Mr & Mrs Blanche, Mr. Lemoine and Madame Roper, referring to an antique pendulum purchase, to the progress of young painter, and even transcribing exact expressions of his interlocutors, and states in part `..I was introduced to Mr. Lemoine, who offered to me a cigar and invited me to visit him, I feel flattered for this.. but what I have to tell you is even more interesting, this is the fact. While I was strolling in Dieppe at Madame Ropert… I find a Louis XVI pendulum, I tell Madame Ropert, - this one is for Madame Blanche at least, - she will probably like it very much, but she has not seen it yet as I only received it yesterday. I have told her and I think she will like it. - How much. 300. All right. I´ll let you know tomorrow. I was going to ask you to go and watch it, in case I am doing a big folly, and if I was not buying a pendulum worth 15 francs...´ further saying `She asked me about your son´s paintings, and I responded he was making big progress, then she said "have you bought bibelots?", and I responded with serious convincing voice "I have bought a pendulum". Imagine Madame Blanche´s face exclaiming "I am sure it is my pendulum". I did not frown, and I responded "I don´t know, it is a cuckoo clock". She sighs.. and did not talk to me all through the evening.. Early this morning I went to see Madame Ropert and told her that I buy the pendulum but do not… if not I will not come back here ever again.´ and before concluding on a post-scriptum saying `After all it is expensive, but I hope I will not be ennoyed because of my three hundred francs.´ Very small and professional repair to the fold, otherwise G £3000-4000
