Original vintage London Transport travel poster - London's Open Air No. 3 The Wild Flowers - featuring an illustration of the red poppy, wood anemone, wild strawberry, cowslip, red clover, bluebell, primrose, sweet violet, meadowsweet, and scarlet pimpernel, with the text in the centre - Washed over shattered City buildings or half-hidden between hedge and bank of Kentish lanes, the wild flowers grow. They follow their own seasons and their own design, owing nothing to the toil and enthusiasm of the gardener. Cowslips, harebells and buttercups, their names are a gay reminder of the countryside. Most Londoners know where the wild flowers can be found. They know the primroses of Epping Forest, the thin anemones of the Surrey woods, the spread bluebells under the Chiltern beeches. They have found meadow-sweet, and dog roses at the common's edge. Each year they take the sun with them and go out to the wild gardens of the countryside or to the nearest and braver flowers of London's heaths and commons. Enjoy the open air - but please avoid the rush hours. Printed by The Baynard Press. Fair condition, tears, creasing, pinholes, paper losses, staining. Country of issue: UK, designer: Nora Kay, size (cm): 102x62, year of printing: 1948.
