Black Yowah Boulder OpalA superb black piece of boulder opal from the Yowah Field, Queensland, Australia, polished on both sides. 45 grams, 54 mm. (2 1/4"). Ex Douglas Rose collection; ex Crystal Classics (with bill of sale and label). Boulder opal consists of concretions and fracture fillings in a dark siliceous ironstone matrix. It is found sporadically in western Queensland, from Kynuna in the north to Yowah and Koroit in the south.
