The Interior Incorporates A Weather Forecast Interperation Chart, With Its Original Ink Bottle and Dropper. Has a Helical Cylinder, 8 Day Platform Movement. Size 7.25 Inches High, 13.75 Inches Wide & 8 Inches Deep. Working Order and Good Conditions In All Aspects.
A large walnut cased desktop clock, barometer and barograph,19th century, the case with a glazed front housing a cylindrical brass barograph (with drive from the clock movement) above a mercury tube thermometer, flanked by an eight-day brass clock with a silvered dial and an aneroid barometer, both signed 'Dollond of London',68cm wide21cm deep42cm high
SHORT & MASON OF LONDON; a micro-barograph no.171/37 housed in glazed display case, 23 x 37 x 22cm. CONDITION REPORT: In house postage is not available on this lot. The brass work is in good condition, there is a stain and residue to lower case (see further images), heavy wear to base plinth, glass cover is present.
A mahogany cased barograph J. Davis and Son Limited, London and Derby, early 20th century The mechanism with eight segment aneroid chamber connected via a gilt brass armature to an inked pointer for recording the change in barometric pressure on a clockwork-driven rotating paper scale lined drum, the brass baseplate engraved J. DAVIS & SON LTD., LONDON & DERBY., the case with five panel bevel-glazed cover and ogee moulded base incorporating apron drawer containing spare charts and simple squab feet, 37cm (14.5ins) wide. Provenance: Private collection, Hampshire (ref. B2). The firm of J. Davis and Son are recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS & RETAILERS 1660-1900 as working in London from around 1860.
