V38641 * Following Bernie Marsden's 'no. 2' amplifier head going missing, this amplifier was modified for Bernie at the Marshall factory to use as a backup to his JMP 1959's. Bernie Marsden & Whitesnake - Marshall half stack including a 1976 Marshall JMP model 1959 Super Lead 100 watt MK II guitar amplifier head, made in England, ser. no. 09236H, bearing a 'Bernie Marsden' stencil to the back and number '3' stencil to the side, also bearing Bernie's settings to the front control panel; together with a Marshall 1960B Lead 4 x 12 guitar amplifier speaker cabinet, enclosing a set of four Celestion G12M 16 ohm green back speakers, bearing a 'Bernie Marsden' stencil to the back and the number '2', held within a fitted heavy duty flight case bearing Bernie Marsden and Whitesnake logo stencils and the number 28 * The amplifier head was custom built for Bernie Marsden by the late Mike Hill at the Marshall factory. "I was always in the Marshall factory with The Beast and Mike!" (One of three Marshall heads which were transported in the bespoke flight case, lot 522, offered later in the sale). This head was also loaned to Warren Haynes for use with Gov't Mule on a European tour in 2017, hence the John Henry tape. Arguably one of the most significant pieces of Whitesnake memorabilia. Used extensively by Bernie Marsden, travelling the world with Whitesnake live since they started gigging in 1978, including Reading Festival, Donington Park, Hammersmith Odeon, Madison Square Garden. Also used all the time in the studio and being number 1, the recording of 'Here I Go Again'. Seen in many historic live photographs & footage of Bernie Marsden with Whitesnake. Later used with Alaska after the Whitesnake split.
