Effectively the Orion four-door alternative to the Ford Escort XR3i, it has the same 1.6-litre fuel injected CVH engine and five-speed manual gearbox. This car has an odometer reading just 89,000 miles and engine, transmission and electrics are described as ‘excellent’. The vendor says it was a garage find after being stored in the dry for many years. “Totally authentic and original, the car has been lovingly restored, including a full engine overhaul and extensive coachworks. It now shows minimal signs of rust, with no previous accident damage noted.” ‘G185PRR’ has an interior that’s completely original, with all trim and upholstery only showing minor age-related wear and tear, otherwise being in great condition. It has the original Ford stereo and Ghia Injection-spec amplifier – and this car comes with the desirable Ford trip computer. Notably, this 36-year-old car has had just two previous keepers. The Ford Orion is the saloon version of the Ford Escort. Introduced in 1983, it offered a traditional alternative to the futuristic Escort hatchback, and proved popular particularly amongst traditional Ford Cortina drivers who were put off by the aero-look new Ford Sierra. More than 3.5 million were sold in a 10-year period, and the Orion was a regular top-10 best-seller in the UK during the 1980s.
