WW2 MRAF Arthur ( Bomber ) Harris signed on his won Historic Aviators cover. Great War WW1 Pilot. Harris led RAF Bomber Command in World War Two, earning him the nickname 'Bomber Harris'. His implementation of the policy of 'saturation' or 'area' bombing of German cities has made him a hugely controversial figure. Leaving England at the age of 16, he travelled to Rhodesia where he worked on a farm becoming the manager by the age of 21. Having fought in South-West Africa, he returned to Britain and joined the RFC, gaining his RAeC Certificate (No 2015) on 6 November 1915. In March 1916, one of his flight, Lt W Leefe-Robinson, brought down the first Zeppelin over England for which he was awarded a VC. With No 45 Sqn he gained his five victories, thereby raising him to 'ace' status. It was in India that he saw the deplorable state of the RAF in the area and at one point even threatened to resign his commission over the situation. He has often been 'credited' with start 'area bombing', but this decision was made before he took over Bomber Command. However, having been given the task he carried it out with vigour. He also attempted increase the profile of the command and within months of taking over command had managed to mount three '1000 Bomber' raids against Cologne, Essen and Bremen. After the war, shunned by the British authorities, he returned to South Africa and became Managing Director of the South African Marine Corporation (Safmarine). He was eventually honoured when Churchill returned to Downing Street in 1953, but at his own request was awarded a baronet rather than a peerage. He died on 5 April 1984. Good condition. 1957 Norton Café Racer Registration Number: N/A Frame Number: N .14.76532 (1957 Dominator 99 Wideline) Engine Number: 103403 (1962 650SS engine) - Built to a high standard with excellent components Café racers were particularly associated with the urban rocker or "ton-up boys" youth subculture, where the bikes were used for short, quick rides between popular cafés, such as London's Ace Cafe on the North Circular ring road, and Watford's Busy Bee café. This beautiful looking machine has been built to a high standard. The engine has been fully rebuilt, matched to a pair of 30mm Premier Mk1 concentric carburettors. The gearbox and magneto were overhauled by Norton gearbox specialist Dave Coates. A new genuine kickstart lever from RGM has been fitted, as have new rear sets and footrests by Barleycorn Engineering, also new stainless steel megaphone reverse cone silencers by Armour. The bike features new alloy engine plates by Norton Race Parts, John Tickle yoke/front brake and twin leading brake shoes from RGM, a Smiths speedo and rev. counter. The bike sits on a new RGM centre stand with stainless steel fittings, also a new stainless chain guard. The wheels are 18” diameter (Borrani to the rear), the Manx 5 gallon tank is a new aluminium TAB Classics item. The seat is a new Manx single seat, and a race cowling is fitted, both from Works Racing.  In summary a glorious looking cafe racer which has been very well put together, and is ready to advance you to the nearest cafe, ahead of the competition.

Scarce WW2 A black and white portrait photographic postcard bearing the original wartime signature of Hermann G�ring (or Goering) (1893 1946). G�ring was a German politician, military leader, and convicted war criminal. He was one of the most powerful figures in the Nazi Party. which ruled Germany from 1933 to 1945. A veteran WW1 fighter pilot ace, G�ring was a recipient of the Blue Max. He was the last commander of Jagdgeschwader 1 (JG I), the fighter wing once led by Manfred Von Richthofen. An early member of the Nazi Party, he was among those wounded in Adolf Hitler's failed Beer Hall Putsch in 1923. After Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, G�ring was named as minister without portfolio in the new government. Goring was Chief of The Luftwaffe High Command from 1st March 1935 to 24th April 1945 and was found guilty on four charges at The Nuremberg Trials in 1946, Goring committed suicide with a cyanide pill the night before he was due to be hanged.
