An early 20th century Teddy Bear, originally black, very worn and in poor condition, a photograph from 1913 shows the black bear with the sellers mother, length 36cm, sitting up 28cm.The family always thought that this was possibly a Steiff 'Titanic 'Teddy Bear. However, it is possible that this is a British bear by Omega Toys.This lot does not include the photograph or outfit.In 1912 Steiff produced 494 bears in five sizes as a special order commemorating the sinking of the Titanic. Light brown mohair with stitched nose, fully jointed limbs and button tag to the ear. With Original tags, a classic grey bear called 'Ashton' with green bow tie by RUSS and a vintage limited edition boxed 'Paddington Bear' by Rainbow Designs. Largest Steiff example measures 30cm (sitting down).
