Andy Warhol produzierte einige der berühmtesten Porträt-Bilder des 20 Jahrhunderts: Seine Siebdrucke mit den Köpfen von Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, Mao Tse Tung oder Elvis Presley sind weltweit bekannt und hängen in den wichtigsten Museen, wurden aber auch millionenfach auf T-Shirts, Tassen oder Plakaten reproduziert. Warhol beschäftigte sich intensiv mit dem Phänomen der Celebrity- bzw. Star-Besessenheit der Massenmedien, die ihn einerseits faszinierte – war er schließlich selbst Teil davon – andererseits machte er sich aber auch durchaus gerne darüber lustig. Nach seinem berühmten Zitat aus dem Jahr 1968 “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” wurde er in Interviews derart häufig befragt, dass er, genervt davon, begann, es mit der Zeit bis zur Sinnlosigkeit zu variieren. Gemeint war aber, dass die Medien es jedem ermöglichen sollten (bzw. können), berühmt zu werden – ein Phänomen, das sich bewahrheitet hat, aber gleichzeitig die Kurzlebigkeit und Vergänglichkeit von Ruhm veranschaulicht. Ein gutes Beispiel ist das wechselnde „Gefolge“ Warhols in den 1960er und 70er Jahren von ansonsten eher unbekannten Personen, die er selbst seine „Superstars“ nannte. Abgesehen davon betätigte sich Warhol für viele seiner Künstler-Freunde als Mentor und verhalf einigen von Ihnen tatsächlich zu (dauerhaftem) Ruhm und Erfolg – wie zum Beispiel Keith Haring oder Jean-Michel Basquiat. Für seine ikonenartigen Portraits verwendete Warhol ab Beginn der 60er Jahre den Foto-Siebdruck, um die charakteristischen, klaren Umrisse und die starke Flächigkeit zu erzeugen. Das Verfahren war außerdem einfach und schnell, sodass Warhol immer wieder kleine Veränderungen an ein und demselben Foto vornehmen konnte. Bei den Motiven für seine Bilder entschied er sich bewusst für jene, die bereits so berühmt waren, dass jeder sie wiedererkennen würde. Warhols "Chicken Noodle Soup" ist eines der häufigsten ikonischen Arbeiten Warhols. Schon 1962 hatte er eine seinerzeit provokante Gemälde-Werkreihe mit 32 Campbell's Suppendosen geschaffen. Sechs Jahre später setzte er die Motive in ein Portfolio mit zehn Siebdrucken um. Warhol war fasziniert von der Konsumkultur und diese Arbeit erinnert zugleich an die Werbung der bekannten Suppenmarke, die er jahrzehntelang selbst zu sich genommen hatte. Die einfache Darstellung der Dose hat einen besonders großen Wiedererkennungswert. Als Beispiel für Warhols auffälligen Pop Art-Stil ist sie zu einem wesentlichen Bestandteil seines Oeuvres, der amerikanischen und internationalen Kunstgeschichte geworden. He was the secretary of the 5th grade of SAZU (for the arts) from 2002 to 2008, then a member of the presidency of SAZU.His media include painting, graphics and drawing, as well as tapestry, sculpture, stained glass and graphic design. Romeo and Juliet: A limited edition animation cel issued in 1992, created by Chuck Jones, depicting the scene, where 'Pepe' KLe Pew shows his affection for his favourite lady', bearing signature and date to lower centre, limited edition no 86/500, with gold stamp bearing number '27086' to lower right, 32cm wide, 80cm high, mounted, framed and glazed, complete with corresponding certificate.The original line image was hand-drawn and hand-inked on paper by Mr Jones. The image line was transferred by serigraph screen to clear acetate film, and each cel was individually hand painted on the reverse side. * PAUL INSECT (B. 1971) 'Dead Elvis' 2006, limited edition (100) serigraph screenprint, published by Pictures on Walls, 59.5cm x 42cm. Paul Insect is a UK street artist famous for his solo show at the Lazarides Gallery 2007. Worked alongside Banksy at Cans Festival, Santsa Ghetto and the separation wall in Palestine. Spanish artist Paco Pomet came to prominence in the UK for his painting 'Internacional' shown at Banksy's 'Dismaland' theme park. Serigraph by Trinidad Osorio with a female figure standing with 4 large baskets of fruit on all sides of her. It is titled "Fruit Market" and signed and numbered in the lower left. Gallery label verso. Osorio studied at the San Carlos Academy and at the National School of Plastic Arts. He was awarded a scholarship by UNAM to study new painting techniques and art history in the United States. Later, he taught at the Nicolaita University of Morelia, Michoacán and directed the College of Engraving. He made around 40 individual exhibitions and more than 350 group exhibitions. During his time as a producer of the Radio 1 show from the mid-1980s-90s he collected the majority of the lots on offer here. These include rare vinyl, acetates, and Factory Records promotional items. The majority of the vinyl lots being offered for sale are in Mint or Near-Mint condition – with some having never been played.
Lorenzo Homar (1913 - 2004) 1972 Artist Proof Serigraph. Signed, titled in pen in lower margin. Homar was an engraver, painter, and printmaker. He studied at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn Museum's School of Art, and Art Students League, all in NY. He worked as a jewelry designer for House of Cartier, and was a founding member of Centro de Arte Puertorriqueno. From 1952-57, he was director of graphic workshops of Division de Educacion a la Comunidad, San Juan, PR, and Instituto de Cultura Puertorriquena from 1957-73, which developed into a resource for discovering young talent.
