A collection of papers and newspaper articles relating to the Life & Death of Mr Reginald Covil, Assistant Manager of the Asiatic Petroleum Company, who had the misfortune to have been captured at the beginning of WW1 on route from Shanghai to England to join the Army, captured by SMS Wolf, an armed Merchant raider of the Imperial German Navy, he spent the remainder of the War in internment in Germany, and his death at Chungking on October 16th 1920, shot in a boat whilst seeking to escape Kweichow Troops for sanctuary on HMS Widgeon.

Together with a Lowland Brigade glengarry. Blue woollen body with lower red, white and black checkered band. Top red pom pom. Black silk tails. Silvered Lowland Brigade badge. Both items with some wear and minor moth.
WW1 French Horizon Blue 12 Regiment Officer’s Tuniclight horizon blue, single breasted, high collar tunic. The collar with blue braid chevrons and blue painted numerals. Pleated chest and lower pockets, all with buttoned flaps. False turn back cuffs. The rear panel with false pleat. White metal flaming grenade buttons, hidden to the front. Black silk lining.
