WW1 interest brass tobacco box, named to Solomon Chubbs of Cromwell Road Risca (near Newport, South Wales) and dated 1912, with slip of paper relating to research done by a previous owner suggesting his date of birth to be 1882 and service number to be 41444 in C Company, Royal Berkshire Regiment, width 8cm
1888 MKI 2nd Type Drill Purpose Bayonet11 3/4 inch, double edged blade with blunted point. Forte marked with crowned VR over "3/98". Reverse with broad arrow over "EFD" (Enfield). Steel muzzle ring, crossguard and pommel which is marked "R61". Wooden slab grips secured by 2 brass rivets. Together with a WW1 period, British military jack knife. Single edged, folding blade. Part 2-World War 1 A Very Rare Parcel of Original First World War Documents relating to Sergeant W Netley 13 th Battery Royal Field Artillery and 157 Brigade Royal Field Artillery, includes: his Soldier Pay Book dating from 1915 to 1916 (thedate he wrote his will) along with documents from the War office dated 1946 referring to his service in WW1 with commendations of valuable service, anewspaper clip plus letter confirming mention in despatches dated 1919, signed letters of reference mentioning him as ?one of the very best type of NCO? and of ?Exemplary Character? and recommendation to join the TA. His certificate of employment stating that he was employed as a Prison Officer between discharge after the Boer War and signing up again in WW1. Correspondence from the Prison Service dating 1919 after his return and his protection certificate dated 1919 stating his was granted 28 days ?Furlough?
