Together with his beret and assorted commemorative plaques and a truncheon, named to Purdon. Purdon famously took part in the raid on St Nazaire and was awarded the Military Cross during that operation. Wounded trying to break out of the dock area in St Nazaire Purdon was captured and imprisoned. Escaping then recaptured Purdon saw the war our in the confines of Colditz Castle.
