the ring turned mahogany truncheon with chamfered head and fitted with a sprung bayonet with 33.5cm incurved triangular blade released by a catch, plain shaped grip with ring fitting, 53.5cm long (closed). An old label attached suggests that this sort of item may have been used by press gangs or excise officers.

Sword: Some oxidation to blade surface and hilt, and could do with a good polish, evidence (see extra images) of pin rust on a small portion of the blade but only lightly affected.The scabbard: the pig skin covering is breaking down and is damaged towards the throat end of the scabbard, structually good no huge disfiguring dents. portepee and good. Bayonet:Blunted tip by approx 1cm now rounded over to a point, some signs of historic rust to the blade and scabbard, wooden scales ok, retaining spring strip for the balonet lock missing.scabbard with signs of old blueing but considerable surface pin rust.Books: show some damp staining to the pages and covers.Smith of London pocket pistol: percussion nipple broken off, cocks to both positions and releases on the trigger as expected, interference safety catch not working,bore clear (.48), wooden pistol grip stained but intact.Unnamed pocket pistol: percussion nipple smashed, box lock with cock but has no resitance, main spring broken, box lock, with gaping seam trigger moves but does not release hammer, walnut wooden pistol grip good order. Undecorated truncheon: scratches of age and use, it has a warp that gives the whole a curvature, no wrist strap, no stamps or numbers, paint. Painted McNaughton of Glasgow truncheon, good order, some signs of old scratches but generally good cypher and crown still legible, numbered 996.Mayers & Harrison Ltd of Manchester 1964 bugle:with broad arrow marking, some denting but still operational.Sykes, powder flask: some dents but mechanism working.Other remaining items please reffer to the images supplied.
