A GEORGE III CONSTABULARY TRUNCHEON Of mallet form, polychrome painted with "GRIII" cipher over a crown, the finial and terminal painted red, measuring approx. 43cm in length; together with two small ceremonial tipstaves; one painted in green and gold with William IV (later over-painted Victoria) cipher above the letters "S.H.C.", possibly referring to the Stirling High Constables, numbered "20" to the reverse and measuring approx. 14.7cm in length; the other more plainly decorated with Victoria cipher, approx. 12.3cm in length (3)  Condition Report:"Large constabulary truncheon with significant surface wear. Craquelure/bubbling and losses to paintwork throughout. Some mottling/dulling to paintwork, concentrated on the reverse side (behind the polychrome cipher). Red paint to finial and terminal has worn through entirely at extremities. Multiple chips, knocks and gouges. Chips and losses to raised bands, particularly at the broad end.""S.H.C."" green and gold tipstaff with general surface wear, most significant at extremities. ""W.R."" cipher has been later overpainted to ""V.R."". Generally bright and attractive. Silk wrist strap worn and faded, with tears.Small ""V.R."" tipstaff is generally good. Minor chips and knocks throughout. Adhesive residue to the unpainted end. Wear at ends, with the natural colour of the wood showing through."

There are some light indentations to the wood from previous contact and the wood also has consitant colouring and patina. The leather strap most likely is the original strap.

On the 1848 truncheon, there is a deep scratch close to the handle which looks to have been made when the truncheon was made. The handle has scratching and wear throughout. There is no visible sings ofn opne splits to the truncheons. The handle of the 1854 truncheon has a even colouration and a well-handled patina.

Two Victorian truncheons, with painted decoration, the first bearing the Royal crest and initials 'V.R' (43cm); the second with 'Supt V.R Chelsea' (45cm)Provenance:Property of the late Gabriela GrilloThere is significant paint loss to the 43cm truncheon, especially to the upper section where the black paint has rubbed off completely in areas, showing the base wood underneath. The crown also has significant rubbing and paint loss. There are numerous indentiations to the truncheon which again, highlights the base wood underneath. The handle is stbale and has consistant colouring. The 45cm truncheon has far less paint loss to the surface, but still examples of paint loss, mainly to the red upper section and on the initials and 'Chelsea'. Again, there are examples of indentations on the wood from contact. This also applies to the handle.

1848 Special Constabulary Naval Themed Painted Truncheon. An unusual example of a Constables painted truncheon, the ground colour being dark blue decorated with a fouled anchor within a Garter Strap. With the text Special 1848. The grip of polished wood with ring turning. Length 18 inches. Overall GC with a few knocks to the wood. This may refer to a Special Constable of the Royal Dockyard in 1848. This year saw the Chartism riots this being one of the most active years of the Chartist movement who's aim was to influence political rights for the working class. The government enrolled special Constables and the army was put on the streets

Ex Abelita family collection.This gorz mace head belongs to the category of truncheon-shaped mace-heads, a type developed on the Iranian plateau during the Bronze Age, used by Elamite and Luristan warriors since the 3rd millennium B.C. This category of objects was also interpreted as a part of a shaft, but most scholars agree on the interpretation of use as a mace.
