International Mutoscope Reel Co. Inc. USA. C.1920`s - 30`s. Metal Construction with alloy fittings. Picture card to glass panel reads "What the Butler didn`t see". Re-painted but generally original machine with alloy coin-slot. Converted to 20p operation (originally 1 Cent) On floor mounting stand approx. height 190cm.
Solomon Henry, a brass equal arm coin scale, c.1774, stamped with a crown above 'S. Henry, Inventor, by Royal Patent', for weighing a guinea, ½ guinea and ¼, with arrestment pedal and triple slot steel gauge, upon an oval base and contained within a shagreen case with hand cut velvet lined interior, the lid with label with instructions, inscribed 'Sold at Mr Pinchbecks, Cockspur Street, and E. Terry, No.6 Castle Alley, Royal Exchge, price 10 shillings 6 pence' (This model patented 1774), case 13.2cm Solomon Henry, merchant and inventor. He held patent for a lock, a fire alarm, a burglar alarm, watering machine, a stamp and No.1080 of 12. Sep. 1774 for this coin balance. He had his scales made by Thomas Warner, brass-founder. Christopher Pinchbeck II was son of the inventor of Pinchbeck, the brass alloy that looked like gold.
An early American ‘Air Way Bally Product’ mechanical pinball machine. A heavy black painted wooden framed professional gaming machine 90cm x 42cm x 28cm. Activated by inserting a coin into a slot. ‘A game of skill for amusement only’, ‘10 balls for 1c’. Also with instructions to operate. Each ball destination is marked by an American city name, for example ‘New York’, ‘Boston’, ‘St. Louis’, etc. Also each with the outline of a plane and points value plus two airships to the centre. GC some light wear. In working order, but spring weak/adjustments required. See Plate 25

An interesting fairground upright pin-ball gaming machine “The Crescent” c 1930, patented by the Crescent Auto Machine Co, patent dates 1909 and 1926; a penny in the slot releases balls that are then “fired” upwards by a spring loaded plunger, to be caught (or not) in a moveable cup operated by the player; in hardwood cabinet with glazed front opening panel, 41½” x 15” x 8” overall, with printed labels giving details of its legal status, and brief instructions for its operation, keys to front panel and coin box. A late Victorian cast iron penny slot vending machine, made for Nestle Milk Chocolate, finished in pillar box red, the name cast in relief with white detail, over twin column dispensers for Nestles Milk Chocolate @ 1d each, and Smokers Chocolate @ 2d each, all supported on single tapered column to base, recently restored. 182 high 48 wide

A Moy & Bastie Mahogany and Brass 35mm Cine Camera, patent no 4534 1909, serial no. 385, with ivorine plate printed `Ernest F Moy Ltd, Manufacturing Electrical Engineers, London N.W.1` inside cabinet, mahogany body with brass binding, the hand-cranked mechanism operating the claw movement via gearing and eccentrically grooved cylinder (`drunken screw`), with crank handle and two internal magazines, F, with later machine-cut slot in body adjacent to film counter and missing (retailer`s?) plate, and Ross Tessar lens, P Although the camera bears signs of fairly heavy use, the finish and general appearance are highly original and attractive, and the spring-loaded crank handle and twin magazines (which can easily go missing) survive. The lens is difficult to examine in a sunken mount, but should clean up.
