AN EARLY VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD-CASED BRASS-DIALLED SINGLE-TRAIN MANTEL CLOCK in the gothic revival taste, having a pointed top between spire finials, the pointed-topped door having a carved fleur-de-lis, the ogee glazing above a bevelled gilt slip, on a reel-carved frieze, plinth base and three (of four) bun feet, the dial having Roman numerals, inscribed 'Simson, Southampton' (unrecorded by Baillie -perhaps a retailer?), the sides with lancet-glazed windows, the movement unmarked, 24.5cm, (9.6in) high.
