The unique Great Exhibition pot lid: The Net Mender (60) wide gold banded border(Staffordshire, pot lid, potlid, Prattware)* These unique versions of pot lids with wide gold banded borders are invariable of exceptional quality in terms of potting, printing and glazing. They were produced for display on the stand of F & R Pratt at the Great Exhibition of 1851.Ex Cohen collection, sold 16th July 1970, lot 288.
A Prattware plaque of scrolling outline moulded with a profile thought to be Desiderius Erasmus, well painted in coloured enamels, circa 1790, 174mm high, border restored(commemorative, pottery)* Erasmus of Rotterdam was a renowned humanist, scholar and theologian born circa 1466. He variously sat for several artists including Hans Holbein on a number of occasions who depicted him in a heavy, fur trimmed, coat with distinctive cap. He died in 1536 leaving a legacy such that it is entirely possible that the Potter chose to remember him some 250 years later.

A collection of 19th century English pottery and porcelain, comprising a Spode felspar low dessert basket, of rectangular form with twin handles, pattern 3949, centrally painted with a bouquet of flowers, the wide blue border detailed and edged in gilt, printed factory mark, painted pattern, 28.5cm wide; two small Derby imari vases, tallest 10cm high; a Derby campagna vase, the pink ground decorated with a main panel of shipping vessels in a harbour, opposed by an unreserved trophy array, the lower portion of the vase further decorated in brown shaded monochrome with acorns and leaves, red crown over batons mark, painted '33', 21cm high; and a prattware low oval dessert comport printed with The Blind Fiddler after David Wilkie, 35cm wide (5)Condition:Campagna - cracked, firing cracks around one snake handle, gilt wear to the foot.
