A mid 19th century 48 bore percussion boxlock overcoat pocket pistol, originally with spring bayonet, 7¾” overall, turn off barrel 2¾” with engraved band at muzzle and B’ham proofs, the frame engraved with scrolls and “Holland, Cirencester” on top strap, and with sliding trigger guard for bayonet release, the walnut slab butt with chequered back edge and vacant oval escutcheon. GC (action AF, all traces of spring bayonet removed, probably during its working life). Plate 7
A provincial quality 14 bore percussion pistol, converted from flintlock, 12½” overall, heavy flat topped round barrel 6¼” cut down from a gun or musket, with nipple drum conversion, London proof, and stamped “E. Lott”, the plain stepped lock also stamped “E. Lott”; plain walnut fullstock with large square engraved steel trigger guard. GWO & basically GC (some wear overall, old splits to fore end). Note: Ewell Lott is listed as working in Reading, Berkshire, c 1820

Gibbs, Bristol”; the heavy walnut fullstock with military pattern GS mounts, and originally fitted with belt hook and swivel ramrod (both removed, probably during its working life). Basically GC (action AF, nipple replaced, barrel pitted)
A mid 19th century German 38 bore percussion target pistol by Carl Wunder in Mannheim, 16” overall, octagonal damascus barrel 10” with 10 groove rifling, the breech tang with small single blade rearsight; the bar in wood lock engraved with double line border and maker’s name in copperplate script; the nicely figured walnut halfstock with finely fluted butt and no provision for ramrod, with plain steel line engraved butt cap and spurred trigger guard with adjustable trigger. GWO & C; in its close fitted, green baize lined pale walnut (?) case to take the dismantled stock and barrel separately, and containing shaped copper flask by “B a Paris”, embossed with classical warriors head in medallion, mallet head with handle that doubles as loading rod, nipple key with ebony handle, and turned ebony cap box. GC (case lid slightly warped, no key). Plate 20
A good early 19th century Turkish flintlock holster pistol, 17½” overall, 2 stage damascus barrel 11¾” gold overlaid with foliate panel, inscription, stars and crescents, etc, and with small gold poincon; the French style rounded lock with swan neck cock, raised pan and roller on frizzen spring; the fullstock profusely inlaid with eastern silver stars, crescents and wire scrolls; the mounts of eastern silver including silver marked long spurred buttcap engraved with stars and crescents, silver mounted trophy of arms sideplate, escutcheon, broad trigger guard engraved with a star (a contemporary replacement), and ramrod pipes. GC, would benefit from light cleaning (action requires slight attention). An untouched piece. Plate 17
An 18 bore flintlock holster pistol, 14½” overall, barrel 9” with B’ham proofs; the plain trade quality lock with unbridled frizzen; plain walnut fullstock with brass mounts including small domed butt cap and flower engraved trigger guard with acorn finial, and with an old horn tipped ramrod. GC (action requires slight attention, slightly worn overall, gap in stock around rear of lock)
An officer’s 14 bore flintlock holster pistol, by H Nock, c 1800, 15” overall, round barrel 9” with London proofs, and originally fitted with swivel ramrod (now missing); the stepped lock with raised pan and roller on frizzen spring, the plate engraved “H. Nock”; the walnut fullstock with flat sided butt and slit for ramrod; brass trigger guard. QGC (action AF, barrel pitted, fore end damaged and ramrod pipe missing). This pistol is reputed to have been found in a chimney breast in East Bergholt, Suffolk.
A pair of officer’s 16 bore flintlock holster pistols, by J Probin, c 1815, 12” overall, flat topped round barrels 7” with B’ham proofs and engraved on top flats “24 Lisle St, London”, the stepped bolted locks with raised pans and rollers on frizzen springs; the walnut fullstocks with chequered butts and oval silver escutcheons engraved with initials “R.H.R” in gothic script; steel mounts including engraved trigger guards with pineapple finials, and with swivel ramrods. GWO & clean condition (some well executed restoration, the barrels re-engraved); in a later green baize lined fitted mahogany case with reproduction trade label of W Smith, London, containing a 3 way tapered copper and brass pistol flask (GO & C) and a 10 bore steel pincer mould (dark patina overall). A small brass bugle inscribed "The Buglet" by Henry Keat & Sons, a small flintlock pistol, and a vintage candlestick telephone CONDITION REPORTS The bugle is in extremely squashed and battered and dented condition and with splits, etc. The pistol with rusting and wear. Splits to handle. Telephone with heavy wear and scuffs. Tarnish, some losses, etc.
