THE CRICKET CLUB HOUSE: Rare pair Mintons bone china cricket figurines, the boy bowler and batsman beside stumps and rustic fence, on rectangular bases decorated with I Zingari club colours, impressed Mintons, one with cypher for 1887 and numeral 2085, 13.5cms (h) (2)Provenance: private collection BridgendNotes: I Zingari (or IZ) is one of the oldest cricket clubs in still in existence, formed in 1845 by some old Harrovians at a dinner party.Comments: bowler restored base, batsman with wood bat and impressed marks indistinct, both with minor toning as usual with this paste.

Herbert Wilson Foster (act 1872-1917), watercolour on paper, Nude with Lute, signed in pencil lower right, 20.2cm x 26.7cm. Foster was well-known as a painter and art teacher, teaching Laura and Harold Knight at the Nottingham School of Art. He was also well-known as a porcelain artist and worked at Mintons from 1872. He worked at one point on the tile panels in the Victoria and Albert Museum. This is probably a design for Mintons. Provenance – from the collection of his nephew

A Mintons majolica tazza, 19th century, modelled as a pierced basket raised above three putti representing hunting, fishing and growing, on trefoil base with scrolled acanthus leaf feet and fruiting vine embellishment, impressed maker's mark and '540' to underside, 32cm high (at fault) CONDITION REPORT:The piece shows a discoloured repair to the basket approximately 12cm wide, and a further repair approximately 6cm wide on the opposite side of the basket. The interior shows an area of stained surface crazing. The body shows some firing pits and frits, and the odd small glazing fault, but no obvious chips or cracks.
