A Reichert monocular microscope, cased, lacquered brass and enamelled steel, 25cm tall, fully rack-and-pinion adjustable horseshoe base, tube marked in reserve C Reichert/Wien/VIII Bennogasse, 26/No. 9437, single nosepiece, three eyepiece lenses and three objective lenses, one a replacement, condenser lens and cover, five slides (one broken), convex glass cover and spike, case marked twice in MS 'Binns, G.' plated lock plate and hinges,30 x 17 x 11cm, c. 1885Carl Reichert founded his business in Vienna in 1876, and the firm, after numerous amalgamations, still exists. The serial number is low and suggests a mid-1880s date.
