Matchbox Regular Wheels 17a Bedford Removals Van - light blue type C body with silver trim, "Pickfords Removers & Stores over 100 Branches" gold lettered decals with ed outline around the Pickfords lettering, metal wheels with crimped axles - our vendor states this was purchased from an ex-Lesney employee many years ago and although we are unable to confirm this is a colour trail, the body interior has the correct factory tell-tale feathering effect giving a bare metal finish in places, also of note is that the side decals are a perfect fit - Good Plus to Excellent unboxed with some small paint chips but please note the rear tailgate is missing.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 20a ERF Dropside Lorry - factory trial model - dark maroon body with silver trim, Hybrid rear shallow cab brace which is much shorter than the production versions (see extra photo for comparison with production model), metal wheels with crimped axles - Good Plus to Excellent unboxed with some paint chips. Very rare trial body casting produced between the light green initial trial run and the later standard production run, the first we have seen. Our vendor states this was purchased from an ex-Lesney employee many years ago.

Model differs from production versions in the following ways: body casting front & rear wings extend below the front bumper, the front Monte Carlo Rally plate is a thinner profile, base without copyright date and states "Made in England by Lesney" rather than "Made in England Lesney Prod & Co. Ltd" text - overall Good Plus to Excellent unboxed with some small paint chips & paint loss to hood raised centre line. Consigned by ex-Lesney employee.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 17e AEC Horse Box factory Pre-production colour trial - green cab & type A base (same colour as No.32c Leyland BP Tanker), chrome grille & base without tow guide, light grey plastic type A body, mid-grey plastic ramp, blue windows. Apart from lacking tow guide model differs from production versions in the following ways: ramp does not have the cut-out tab to allow easy opening of the ramp and also does not lift slightly to click securely into a closed position, base without copyright date & rear "Lesney Product & Co. Ltd" text - overall Excellent with crack to left hand side plastic body central step between the wheelarches and usual factory assembly marks to roof. Consigned by ex-Lesney employee.

Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y5 1907 Peugeot factory Pre-production colour trial - blue body & windscreen/dashboard (same colour as Regular Wheel No.39c Ford Tractor), matt black roof with hand punched rear glazing rivet but un-punched front locating rivets, clear windows (these are 100% clear rather than having a very pale orange tint as found on production models), bright red grille & seats, bare metal radiator surround & headlamps, brass 12-spoke wheels. Model differs from production versions in the following ways: lower windscreen does not have central dividing bar, inside rear body does not have the rear wheelarch strengthening braces, there is a recessed channel either side below the hood which is removed from production models, both rear articulated spring hangers are cast open but these are cast shut on production models, base text states model No. Y. 5 whereas production versions have Y-5 text, base also without rear copyright date and "Lesney Products & Co Ltd" text - body is Excellent, roof only Good with considerable paint loss to edges. Model consigned by ex-Lesney employee.

Matchbox King Size K11 DAF Articulated Car Transporter factory Pre-production colour trial - light grey tractor unit with clear windows, without interior fitted, bare metal grille & base which has not been zinc plated, light grey trailer with red rear ramp, red plastic hubs. Model differs from production versions in the following ways: cab glazing held into position by roof stud rather than pressed rivet, trailer upper deck without checker plate raised detail and also has continuous solid centre channels whereas production versions have this centre channel removed around the locating hole areas for the plastic chocks, the hydraulic rams to raise & lower the top deck are a different design with a central connecting bar, underside of top deck also without the three central strengthening braces, also without the ejector rings cast and without model number K11 cast, lower deck trailer casting without the rear triangular cut-outs and also without the raised checker plate detail and also without model number K11 cast to rear uprights, ramp also without raised checker plate decal & without K11 cast and without lower strengthening/location brace and has a different design of raised rectangular block, tractor unit base without raised cast detail, trailer base without cross-brace and has a different metal suspension spring arrangement resulting in a solid central axle channel which was cut away on production versions (see extra photos for details) - Good unboxed. Very interesting pre-production model with a multitude of casting variations. Consigned by ex-Lesney employee.

Matchbox King Size K1 O&K Hydraulic Excavator factory Pre-production trial model - red body & chassis, dark amber windows, white interior, metallic silver jib with only two articulated hydraulic rams, without the third articulated hydraulic ram for the bucket which is cast solid as part of the bucket & arm casting - overall Good but does have some heavy corrosion around the right hand side cab window & rear engine cover. Consigned for sale by ex-Lesney employee.

Matchbox King Size K22 Dodge Charger factory Pre-production trial model - metallic blue body, clear windows, yellow interior, bare metal base which has not been zinc plated, plastic hubs with RUBBER tyres. Model differs from production versions in having different rear base text having a 1968 rather than 1969 copyright date and large print patent numbers, rear of base also has larger area of cast detail either side of the rear rivet and is without the raised lines both above & below this raised detail, the copyright date and patent numbers are also arranged in a different order with the copyright date being immediately behind the rear axle whereas on production versions the patent numbers are behind the rear axle, model also fitted with the earlier rubber tyres which has a caused a reaction with the plastic hubs, by the time the model went into production these rubber tyres had been replaced by solid plastic tyres - Fair play worn unboxed but nevertheless an interesting item particularly with this earlier copyright date.
