Geprägt sind seine Darstellungen durch die wirklichkeitsgetreue, nach Natürlichkeit und Individualität strebende Wiedergabe der Porträtierten.Im vorliegenden Bildnis zeigt er eine elegante Dame. Gekleidet ist sie in eine schulterfreie blaue Robe, deren Farbe im reizvollen Kontrast zu ihrem rotblonden Haar steht. Als raffiniertes Accessoire trägt sie einen zarten Schleier, der nicht nur über Haar und Schultern fällt, sondern als Aufputz für ihr gesamtes Kleid dient. Auffallend fein gemalt ist auch ihr Schmuck, dessen Perlen und Steine wertvoll glänzen. In ihrer rechten Hand hält sie eine Lorgnette - eine Sehhilfe, die mit einem Stiel vor die Augen gehalten wurde. Waldmüllers herausragendes Können, unterschiedlichste Stofflichkeiten präzise und naturgetreu wiederzugeben, kommt hier überzeugend zum Tragen. Darüber hinaus schildert er auch geschickt die Persönlichkeit der Dame. Der in die Ferne gerichtete Blick verleiht ihr einen anmutigen und zugleich verträumten Charakter.

Knocks, wear and rubbing throughout.
