FRENCH 18CT GOLD LORGNETTE 7.3cm long, with fine chevron and chatter mark engraving, stamped with French eagle's head assay mark for 18ct gold. On a jump ring bale and 35cm long cable link chain. Weight 20.6 grams. In original Dent of London fitted presentation case. Condition Report : In good condition, glasses intact. A pair of 19th century French Palais Royale gilt metal and mother of pearl lorgnette opera glasses by Simon Rue Castiglione, in a red leather case.Condition ReportThe red leather box has scuffs to all edges and some dirty marks, one hook catch is missing and the silk interior is worn and faded.  The lenses to the glasses have some clouding to the edges, the gilt is rubbed to the nose binding and other high points, the rise-and-fall adjustment is in working order and the mother of pearl decoration is in good condition.
