Agnew and Sons Ltd., London.Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. There are a few small tears at the edges of the canvas but overall the support is sound with good tension. Localised areas of the paint layer are raised and vulnerable to flaking, mainly along the lower edge but also to the left of the sitter's hat. There are areas of overpaint across the portrait, in the flesh and background these have become pale overtime, which is slightly disturbing in the sitter’s face. The varnish is even and slightly yellowed with a thick layer of surface dust. There is abrasion around the edge of the painting from a previous framing.
