A group of ceramics, to include a late 19thC Royal China Works Worcester porcelain vase, the urn shaped body centred with a portrait of a dog, with hunting horn beneath, surrounded by flowers and scrolls, with gilt lined acanthus capped scroll handles on an inverted stem and circular foot, on an inverted plinth base, printed marks beneath no. 980, 25cm high (AF) together with a Continental bisque porcelain figure of a gentleman, standing holding lorgnette, in floral finery, predominately in blue, on a naturalistic base, unmarked, 44cm high, a base metal preserve pot, with blue glass liner and swing handle, 11cm wide, and a three piece cruet set, on plated stand. Walter Trier (1890-1951) was born to German-Jewish parents in Prague in 1890 and moved to Berlin in 1910 following his studies in art. He was one of the Weimar Republic’s most famous illustrators and is best known for his artwork for Erich Kästner’s perennially popular children’s book Emil and the Detectives and his engaging cover illustrations for Lilliput (the British antifascist pocket magazine published throughout WWII).

Henry Wyatt (1794-1840) Portrait of a lady, half-length, in a gold silk gown and black hat with white ostrich feathers, wearing a graduated rivière and holding a lorgnettesigned and dated 'H Wyatt 1828' l.r., oil on canvas94 x 74cm, unframed Provenance: Thos. Agnew and Sons Ltd., London.Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. There are a few small tears at the edges of the canvas but overall the support is sound with good tension. Localised areas of the paint layer are raised and vulnerable to flaking, mainly along the lower edge but also to the left of the sitter's hat. There are areas of overpaint across the portrait, in the flesh and background these have become pale overtime, which is slightly disturbing in the sitter’s face. The varnish is even and slightly yellowed with a thick layer of surface dust. There is abrasion around the edge of the painting from a previous framing.
