He knew Bernard Leach, Charles Vyse and Michael Cardew and built up an important collection of Art Pottery which was sold at Christies about 8 years ago. A Charles Vyse stoneware bowl of flared circular shape, the dark brown hare's fur glazed body with yellow splashes to the exterior and three yellow stylized leaves to the interior, incised mark to base 'C. VYSE CHELSEA' with original gallery paper label, diameter approx 13.2cm. (See illustration)

Charles Vyse. A large pottery figure of a Putti in classical robes carrying a large parrot to his shoulder and Lynx style cat to his side raised to a floral mound all picked out in bright polychrome colours,, marked Vyse Chelsea to the side, later mounted to a wooden plinth, height 12". ILLUSTRATED.

Charles Vyse and Barbara Waller A figure of a Mallard drake the bird modelled with head turned back glazed in pale blue mauve and grey incised mark 'Charles Vyse/ Barbara Waller/ Chelsea' 13.5cm high Note; Barbara Waller was a pupil of Vyse at Farnham School of Art and collaborated with him on a number of pieces including the present lot a previous model of which had been originally exhibited at The Royal Academy.
