Georg Jensen: A gold "Vivianna Torun" watch, 1973 Of torc design, the 18 carat gold circular polished dial, tapering to a baton terminal, signed Georg Jensen and Torun, maker's mark GJLd, pattern number 1226, numbered, London import mark, Swiss assay mark, inner diameter 5.9cm Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe (1927-2004) is widely regarded as one of Sweden's most famous 20th century artists. From an artistic family, she began designing jewellery as a teenager before attending university in Stockholm. She became the first female silversmith in Sweden to have her own workshop. Torun began collaborating with Georg Jensen in 1967. The Torun bangle watch, which is now an icon of the Georg Jensen design house, was first launched in 1969. Her first designs had simply a second hand and a mirrored back, to remind the wearer that now is the moment. When Georg Jensen put the watch into production, the hour and minute hands were added.

Surface wear to glass. The watch case and chain have general surface wear, scuffs and chips/nicks throughout, commensurate for use, and both have dark solder joins/repairs. Some of these joins maybe be due to discolouration of the original solder joins. Occasional batons to the chain are mis-shapen and some of the batons have dings and kinks. The pearls are untested for origin and all have surface wear, some with fractures to the nacre. Diamonds have a typically greyish, fractured and chipped appearance with variable colour and clarity. The chain clasp is currently functioning. Unfortunately the watch does not wind or run and the movement requires repair. Please note that the case has not been opened and therefore the inner case and movement have not been viewed. Approximate gross weights: watch (including dial/movement) 17gm, chain 16gm. A jade pendant on chain, the disc-shaped jadeite panel with carved decoration, suspended from a baton and bead-link chain, yellow precious metal mounted, (jadeite untested for treatments), pendant length 2.2cm, chain length 43cmMultiple surface-reaching fractures and scuffs, nicks and chips to jade panel, which is untested for treatments. Diameter of jade panel 1.35cm. General surface wear throughout pendant mount and chain, commensurate for use, with scattered dings to the batons and beads on the chain. Combined gross weight only approximately 5.1gm. The mark to the bale is indistinct but possibly reads '18' or '16' at the end. There are Eastern character marks to the clasp on the chain and the clasp currently functions but is loose fitting. The chain and pendant are not hallmarked and are untested for metal standard; we are therefore unable to comment further on the metal.
