MONROE MARILYN: (1926-1962) American Actress & Sex Symbol. D.S., Marilyn Monroe, being a signed cheque, New York, 22nd September 1961. The cheque is drawn on the account of Marilyn Monroe Productions Inc. at the Bankers Trust Company and is made payable to Hedda Rosten for the sum of $65.85. Signed by Monroe in bold black ink, just one letter of the signature only very lightly affected by a bank cancellation. Together with Joe DiMaggio (1914-1999) American Baseball Player, husband of Monroe (1954). D.S., Joseph DiMaggio, being a signed cheque, Miami Beach, Florida, 29th November 1990. The cheque is drawn on the account of Yankee Clipper Enterprises Inc. at the Palm Beach National Bank & Trust Company and is made payable, in DiMaggio's hand, to D.M.V. (Department of Motor Vehicles) for the sum of $277. The signature and ink are a little light, although perfectly legible. The signature is unaffected by any bank cancellations. A small area of paper loss in the upper left corner, not affecting the text or signature. The two cheques are individually cornermounted beneath a 7.5 x 9.5 photograph of the couple and matted in pale blue suede with gold coloured edges. Framed in a gold coloured frame to an overall size of 15.5 x 27.5. VG Hedda Rosten: Friend, confidante and neighbour of Marilyn Monroe, who was also employed by Monroe's third husband, Arthur Miller, as a secretary.
