FIELD OF DREAMS (1989) - Kevin Costner-Autographed Screen-Matched Ray Kinsella Baseball Glove and Related Materials - Ray Kinsella's (Kevin Costner) screen-matched baseball glove and related materials from Phil Alden Robinson's sports drama Field of Dreams autographed by Costner. This glove screen-matches to the film's finale, when Kinsella (Costner) played catch with his father John Kinsella (Dwier Brown) in the baseball field he built at his farm with the iconic line "Hey dad, you wanna have a catch?"The subject of widespread critical acclaim upon its release, Field of Dreams was nominated for three Academy Awards®, including Best Picture. Often ranked among the most influential sports films of all time, it was inducted into the US National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2017 for its impact on American culture. An upgraded version of the original Field of Dreams baseball diamond Universal Studios constructed in Dyersville, Iowa for the film remains in use as a Major League Baseball ballpark today, including for a 2021 White Sox vs. Yankees game which Costner introduced. This brown leather Wilson A2000 baseball glove was the high school glove of prop master Douglas Fox, who equipped Costner with it after the actor refused to use fresher equipment provided to the production for promotional consideration. Costner later signed it in silver-color ink when he and Fox again worked together on Niki Caro's McFarland, USA.This glove features matching brown leather laces, a black and yellow sewn-in Wilson "W" logo, and a second Wilson logo near the wrist. Also included are a Letter of Authenticity from Fox, six continuity photos of Costner from production, a Wilson baseball bag, and two production-made paper Terrance Mann (James Earl Jones) graphics. The glove is distressed from personal use, and exhibits wrinkling and discoloration to the leather from age.Estimate: $70,000 - 140,000Bidding for this lot will end on Wednesday, June 28th. Lot 300

THE NATURAL (1984) - Robert Redford-Autographed Roy Hobbs' Rehearsal "Wonderboy" Bat - A Robert Redford-autographed Roy Hobbs' rehearsal "Wonderboy" bat from Barry Levinson's sports drama The Natural. Baseball star Hobbs' signature bat Wonderboy was carved from the wood of a tree that was struck by lightning at the same time his father (Robert Rich III) suffered a heart attack. While the standard Wonderboy bats featured in the film were wood-burned, the text and symbol on this example were carved in and then outlined with marker; the bat was used during production for rehearsals, and may have been one of the early prototypes for the wood-burned bats seen on screen. When filming wrapped on the movie, this bat was signed and inscribed by Redford and gifted to Chris Pollack - the son of the film's costume designer Bernie Pollack and nephew of the producer Sydney Pollack. The inscription reads: "Dear Chris, This is my bat and it is impervious to your pitching - Robert Redford (Roy Hobbs)." Chris was an aspiring baseball player himself and previously spent time on set during filming, where he got to know Redford and other cast members.A few years later, when Chris Pollack signed with the Montreal Expos and entered professional baseball, Redford sent him a letter of congratulations stating "I know it was the bat," a joke that this Wonderboy prop bat was the reason for Pollack's success.Designed by property master Barry Bedig from period-specific Louisville Sluggers, this light brown oak bat features "Wonderboy" and a lightning-shaped "W" symbol carved into it. Also included is a color photograph of Chris Pollack and Robert Redford on set, which is signed and inscribed "Can you spot the Natural? Fondly, Robert Redford"; the congratulations letter Redford sent to Pollack in 1987; two strips of negatives for photos taken on set while Pollack visited enclosed in an envelope printed with a "The Natural" logo in the upper left corner; an invitation to the film's premiere enclosed in a Tristar envelope with a matching production logo; an RSVP card to the invitation; and a site map for the studio premiere. The Natural received four Academy Award® nominations, including Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Glenn Close, Cinematography, Art Direction, and Music. It is frequently cited as one of the best baseball movies ever made. The bat exhibits light scratches from use and fading from its age. Dimensions: 32.5" x 2.5" x 2.5" (82.75 cm x 6.5 cm x 6.5 cm)Estimate: $15,000 - 30,000Bidding for this lot will end on Wednesday, June 28th. The auction will begin at 8:00AM PDT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Lot 300B

THE NATURAL (1984) - Roy Hobbs' (Robert Redford) Custom-Made Left Hander's Period Fielding Glove and Ball - A vintage 1910-1930s style baseball glove and baseball from Barry Levinson's sports drama The Natural. This period-correct glove was custom-made for Roy Hobbs' (Robert Redford) use in the film. At the start of production, a batch of left hander's gloves was fabricated specifically to be used by Hobbs, as Redford is left handed and was one of the few "lefties" in the film. Redford ultimately used several different gloves across different scenes in the film, and the few other left handed performers in the film who needed gloves for baseball sequences may have used them as well. The Hobbs gloves also had additional padding installed in the palm for Redford. This lot consists of a red-brown leather baseball glove and Spalding No.1 baseball, both recreated by Hand Prop Room in the authentic 1910s to 1930s style. The lefthander's leather glove features an adjustable wrist strap with brass button closure, and extra padding throughout palm and fingers. The baseball is made of white leather with red and black stitching along the seams, surrounding a cork center. It features the Spalding logo and "Official National League" logo printed in black. Both pieces are intentionally distressed to appear worn with fading, scuffing, and staining throughout. A Letter of Authenticity from Hand Prop Room is included. The glove exhibits signs of leather repair between thumb and index finger, along with light cracking and creasing, with green oxidation residue around the button. The baseball exhibits early signs of minor leather cracking and marking from use and age. Dimensions: (glove) 9.75" x 9.5" x 3.5" (24.75 cm x 24.25 cm x 9 cm); (baseball) 2.75" x 2.75" diameter (7 cm x 7 cm)Estimate: $8,000 - 16,000Bidding for this lot will end on . The auction will begin at 8:00AM PDT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on Wednesday, June 28th; Thursday, June 29th; or Friday, June 30th.

Lot 302

THE NATURAL (1984) - Spalding No. 1 Baseball - A Spalding No. 1 baseball from Barry Levinson's sports drama The Natural. Baseballs were used throughout the film, including when Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford) hit his climactic game-winning home run. Principle and background performers used custom-made, exacting recreations of 1932-1933-era Spalding baseballs during filming and batting practice throughout production. This baseball features an off-white leather skin with red and blue stitching, a cushion cork center, and period-correct "Spalding" and "Official National League Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." logos stamped in blue. Also included are a printed copy of a continuity photograph of Hobbs and a Certificate of Authenticity from the film's prop master and prop house. The ball is intentionally distressed by production to appear well-worn with fading print, scuffing, and staining throughout. Dimensions: 3" x 3" x 3" (7.75 cm x 7.75 cm x 7.75 cm)Estimate: $2,000 - 4,000Bidding for this lot will end on Wednesday, June 28th. The auction will begin at 8:00AM PDT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. THE WALKING DEAD (T.V. SERIES, 2021) - Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) Lucille Bat - Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) Lucille bat from AMC's horror series The Walking Dead. In the Season 10 episode, "Here's Negan," Negan dug up his signature weapon - a bat he named "Lucille" for his late wife - and used it to smash the head of a walker, splintering it beyond repair. This is one of only three bats created by prop master Kelly Farrah for the sequence, which culminates in Negan burning "Lucille" once and for all. Intentionally splintered and distressed by production, this wooden baseball bat is wrapped in metal barbed wire and comes with a white-painted wooden display spattered with blood and signed "Thanks for everything!" in black ink by Farrah. Some of the wiring around the bat has come loose from age, and the wood's texture has grown rough from exposure.
