Ashworth, one with Liver Bird crest to the front and to the back L'pool Wed L'gue Division One Runners Up 1925-26, Liverpool Post Office, one with Charity Comp 1932 to 1933, I Zingari Alliance T Ashworth, a further medal with blue enamel Liver Bird crest to the front for the Liverpool Wednesday League Runners Up 1921-22, Liverpool Post Office and the silver and rose gold example inscribed T. Ashworth to the front and For The Lord Stanley Cup Winners 1935-36 to the reverse, combined weight of gold medals approx 16g (4).

On autographs - 'Some of them are shabby specimens…' ROSSETTI WILLIAM MICHAEL: (1829-1919) English Writer & Critic, one of the seven founder members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Brother of Dante Gabriel and Christina Georgina Rossetti. A.L.S., W. M. Rossetti, two pages, 8vo, Regent's Park, 11th September 1898, to Mr. Ashworth. Rossetti states that he has pleasure in forwarding some autographs (no longer present) explaining that they are 'selected from a bundle of letters &c that I keep to be drawn upon on any such occasions. Some of them are shabby specimens enough, but this you must excuse'. Rossetti continues 'In the case of my Brother I send 2 specimens - as the note (& the like is the case with almost all his notes in my hands) does not show the surname'. With blank integral leaf. VG
The Distinguished Flying Cross special signed cover. Scarce Award of the DFC cover, Eric Wormald variety numbered 2 of 16 signed and verified to the reverse by Wormald. Signed by an incredible TWENTY-THREE WWII winners of the Distinguished Flying Cross. Five were signed as the original special, plus 18 arranged by Wormald. Signatures are: Neville Duke, Desmond Hughes, Ken Batchelor, Robin Hooper, and Ivor Broom. Those were the original five signatures. The 18 added are Michael Allen, Arthur Ashworth, Sir Alfred Ball, Sir John Barraclough, Roland Beamont, Harold Bird-Wilson, Terence Bulloch, Brian Burnett, Denis David, Bob Doe, Hamish Mahaddie, Bobby Oxspring, Tony Spooner, Peter Townsend, Peter Vaughan-Fowler, Harry White and Sir Peter Wykeham. A George III silver tea urn, by George Ashworth & Co, Sheffield 1804, of globular form decorated with a gadrooned girdle below an engraved Greek Key band, with two lion mask and ring handles, raised on four incurved reeded legs with paw feet over a central spirit burner, the shallow domed cover with ball finial opening to reveal a removable cylindrical warmer liner with cover, reeded spigot with wooden handle, inscribed ' Bequeathed as a Memorial of Gratitude and Affection to Aeneas Mackay Esq by Captain Hugh Mackay of The Madras Native Cavalry Killed in the Battle of Assaye 23rd September 1803', 42cm high, 96oz Provenance: Memorial at Lairg Cemetery, Sutherland, Scotland - Hugh Mackay (2nd son of Rev. T. Mackay) Captain 4th Regiment Madras Cavalry, Commissary Army Staff, born 1763, served his country 24 years, died 23 Sept 1803 at muzzle of enemies guns battle of Assaye fought between Wellesley and the Mahrattas." A Victorian mahogany writing box The rectangular section brass bound box with inlaid heraldic cartouche inscribed 'Presented to Mr Ashworth as a token of respect by the weavers employed at Broadley Wood Mills January 25 1902', the hinged cover revealing green leather tooled skiver and various pen compartments, 17cm high, 50cm wide, 26cm deep.
