Postcard, Lancashire RP, Commemorative card for Albert Lee, drowned trying to save his friend 15 June 1907. (The deaths of Albert Lee and David Ashworth in June 1907 greatly affected the town of Heywood. The boys had been out playing when Ashworth trying to catch wood which was being carried downstream fell into the swollen River Roch. Lee jumped in to save him but both boys drowned. Lee's body was not found until a week after the tragedy. To mark this act of self-sacrifice it was decided to erect a memorial. A sum of £50 was collected. The memorial took the form of a stone obelisk (sl edge knocks, gd/vg) (1)

Two Victorian Ashworth Brothers Ironstone dinner plates, diameter 26 cm, and six matching soup bowls, printed and impressed marks. CONDITION REPORT: The two dinner plates are free from any chips, cracks or restorations. The gilding on the plates is completely erased. Both have light surface scratches and the colours are slightly faded. Both ring out nicely when lightly tapped. The soup plates all appear to be in good order and free from any chips, cracks or restorations. The colours are good. The gilt decoration is partially erased on most but 70% there. There are some minor enamel losses and surface scratches but nothing that is too detrimental. All soup plates ring out nicely when lightly tapped.

England Rugby Trials Cap -North v South Rugby Cap, 1891: Maroon velvet six-panel cap with gold braid, 'NS' motif and tassel present, presented to Abe Ashworth for his appearance for the North in what was in those days effectively the Trial for the England team. In good condition for its age inside and out, a lovely early example.

1898 Northern Union Rugby Menu at Bradford, Yorkshire v Lancashire: Heavily worn and darkened and with some sellotaping to spine and edge loss, a 4pp card, for the NU Roses clash at Bradford Park Avenue, the dinner being at the Midland Hotel on 25th November 1898. Forward Abe Ashworth, the former owner, was by now plying his trade openly with Rochdale Hornets. Nine courses and Champagne this time, plus the Toast List and, verso, the teams: including Dicky Lockwood for Yorkshire and Billy McCutcheon, the ex-Welsh international, for Lancashire. A distressed copy but very rare and of considerable interest and provenance.

[Primer and hymn book], 72 leaves of engraved music score including scales, exercises and hymns, printed rectos only and foliated 1-72, possibly lacking the title page, erratically interleaved with blanks filled with contemporary manuscript music score, 20 further leaves of manuscript music score to rear, 18th-century ownership inscriptions to pastedowns, contemporary calf, worn, oblong 8vo, and 3 similar ESTC N28000 for Ashworth (tracing two copies only, Newberry and Pittsburgh); the second part did not appear until 1782 and ESTC traces only the British Library copy. For the first work (Nodes and Bowcher) OCLC traces four copies in libraries (British Library, King's College London, and two US institutions). (6)
