* WWII Vickers Armstrong Ltd., Supermarine Spitfire. A unique commemorative presentation desk-piece inscribed to C.N. Rhodes, comprising a finely detailed cast-bronze representation of a Spitfire, mounted upon a chrome-plated bronze base, having lift-out cast bronze ashtray with central hub engraved with monogram initials “AV”, and with applied RAF winged motif and further inscription to base “Vickers-Armstrong Ltd, Castle Bromwich Works, 12,000 Spitfire Aircraft, CN Rhodes 1940-45”. Believed a presentation piece to the subject responsible for production of the Spitfire at the West Bromwich plant, synonymous with every aspect of The Battle of Britain and the defence of the Empire during the Second World War.
