WW2 Monte Cassino 2nd Polish Corps Doctor’s Military Cross Group of Eight Medals.Attributed to Captain Tadeusz Huczko Officer Commanding the 5th Field Ambulance Company during the 2nd Polish Corps push through Italy and during the Battle of Monte Cassino.Comprising: Polish Order of Virtuti Militari (5th Class), Cross of Valour, with bar, Monte Cassino Cross “26534”, Military Cross “1945”, 1939/45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal. The medals are loose and framed for display with the following badges etc: 2nd Polish Corps badge “036112” (pin removed). ... 2nd Polish Corps Bullion Maid of Walsall. ... 8th Army Bullion. .... Poland Nationality Title Bullion. ... 5th Kresy Polish Infantry Brigade badge. ... 5th Kresowa Infantry Division breast badge (fittings absent). ... Issue personal ID (Dog) Tag “A.P. 1909 65/111 RZ. KAT HUGZKO TADEUSZ”. The recommendation was raised by Lt. Gen Szyszko Bohusz Commander 2nd Polish Corps in June 1945. “As OC 5FD AMB Coy throughout the Div’s Italian Campaign Capt Hucko very efficiency organised the med evacuation from the line to MDS under very difficult conditions, under fire and in the almost inaccessible mountains. He particularly distinguished himself during the Battle of Monte Cassino between 13-18 May 44, when he overcame immense difficulties in the med evacuation from most FWD ADS in the vicinity of Phantom Ridge down via Cavendish Track and the Rapido Valley. With dauntless courage and unusual energy he was instrumental in saving many of the Polish and Allied tps.” The Monte Cassino Cross number indicates batch issue 5 Medical Company.Captain Tadeusz Hugzko was born at Pinsk Poland in 1909, he joined the Polish Army in July 1929 and took part in the brief campaign in Poland against the German forces. Captured by the Russians he was deported to the Soviet Union. After the invasion of Russia by the Germans he was released and joined the Polish Army in Russia, which then crossed the Russo/ Persian border and came under British Command and known as the 2nd Polish Corps. Following the end of the war, he moved to Britain and resigned his commission in February 1949. Remaining in the UK he settled in Middlesex and became a GP.

FRENCH JOHN: (1852-1925) 1st Earl of Ypres. Anglo-Irish Field Marshal, Commander-in-Chief of the British Expeditionary Force at the beginning of World War I. A good war date A.L.S., with his initial F, one page, 4to, Horse Guards, London, 12th June 1916, to [Archibald] Hunter, on the printed stationery of G.H.Q. Home Forces, marked 'Private' French writes, in full, 'I have spoken to the P.M. in the sense I told you and he received the suggestion most favorably. However it turns out I have done all I can'. With an A.N.S. with his initials ('AH') by Hunter to the verso, in full, 'The proposal was I shd. be promoted Field Marshal'. A letter of interesting content and association. Some extremely light age wear and two very small pin holes to the upper right corner, otherwise VG Archibald Hunter (1856-1936) British General who distinguished himself during the Boer War and later served as commander of the 3rd Army during World War I.
A most attractive 18ct sweetheart brooch of the 15th Punjab Regiment. Based on the regimental cap badge of a chakram with interlaced crescent, crowned and within enamelled laurel wreath, below “15”, “Punjab” “Regiment” displayed on blue enamel backing. The crescent, chakram and brooch bar bearing 40 diamond chips. The reverse bottom edge marked “18ct” and “C&K”, the reverse of the brooch pin setting marked “24-9-43”. Overall height 26mm, bar width 51mm. Very Good Condition (negligible chip to regiment title enamel) Plate 1Note: This item is associated with Major E.B. Teesdale, see previous lot for awards. The 15th Punjab Regiment was, from 1922, a British Indian Army regiment and was transferred to the Pakistan Army in 1947 upon Independence.

WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Close Combat Clasp (Nahkampfspange), bronze grade example retaining much of its original bronzed finish. Stamped to the reverse “FEC W.E PEEKHAUS BERLIN AUSF A.G.M. u. K. GABLONZ”. Backing plate to the reverse of the award. Complete with its correct pattern pin and catch fixing to the reverse, pin has bent but otherwise a very nice example.

Rare Great War Royal Naval Armoured Trains Cap Badge, bronzed oval badge with “NAVAL ARMOURED TRAINS” to the outer, centre with armoured train carriage and winged overlaid. Two lug fittings to the reverse have been removed and a brooch pin fitting added. The Royal Naval Armoured Trains were part of the Royal Naval Air Service before being taken over by the British Army.
