In the early 1960's Costas studied Art & Design at Nottingham College & Design, achieving Prize Winner for 1965 and again in 1966, finally qualifying in 1967 as an Interior Designer. He went on to become Senior Designer for John Player and Sons, Nottingham, working on various promotions and presentation including Formula 1 which was then sponsored by the company. Costas later became Chairman of the British Institute of Interior Design and Fellow Member of the Royal Chartered Society of Designers. In the late 1980's his design skills lead him into theatre stage and television set design, and further consultancy work for the Royal Saudi Family. By 2000 his interest had turned to expressing his artistic flair and ideas with his own works of art, some of which were influenced by his 'interiors design' skills learned over the years. He also became fascinated by the raw beauty of Aboriginal art which influenced some of his work. His great passion was to provoke thinking from those viewing and studying his artwork. He enjoyed experimenting with colours, varied textures, and all forms of art medium, including water colours, acrylics, oil paints, pen & ink, and even charcoal, presented on various materials for maximum effect. The latter years of his life concentrated on more abstract paintings, working with local art groups such as The Combe Down Art Group and The Bathampton Art Group in Bath. A selection of some of his talented pieces of work are now here for sale.
