Stationery Office by J. Weiner Ltd. London. (See illustration) Condition Report: Not framed. Mixed media (body colour, pen, pencil, acrylic) on board. The panel on which words would have rested (bottom third of work) has been removed. Fragments of black paper remain. Damp marks to bottom third. Slight scratch to boy's face. Corners of board very dog-eared. This has come from the studio that designed posters in this period.

Mixed media mounted on card, monogrammed NH Depicting a snowy hillside of graves 63.5 x 51cm Note: We can find no record of this design being printed. Probably, its message was considered too bleak to be considered motivational, however absenteeism amongst factory workers who did not feel their work to be crucial to the war effort was a problem. Rotol (Rolls Royce-Bristol) were propeller manufacturers who equipped Spitfires, Hurricanes and other wartime aircraft. (See illustration)

ABRAM GAMES 1914-1996 "Blonde Bombshell" WWII ATS Recruitment Poster Printed for HM Stationery Office by Fosh & Cross Ltd. 1941 73 x 48.5cm Note: When this poster was first issued, Games was criticised for making the design 'too glamorous' and it was withdrawn. Games went on to design the official stamp for the 1948 Olympic games and the emblem for the 1951 Festival of Britain. (See illustration) Condition Report: 1cm rip to middle top edge, all corners intact, very slight fold to lower face. Ten glue patches to the back, presumably fromn being attached to a wall. Stain on cheek is one of those showing through. Very slight rip to mid-left hand side.

FOUGASSE (Cyril Kenneth Bird CBE) 1887 - 1965 'Time Flies (and especially where urgent repair jobs are concerned)' WWII propaganda poster 73 x 48.5cm Note: Bird was a well known cartoonist and editor for Punch magazine and was the artist responsible for the famous 'Careless Talk Costs Lives' wartime campaign.
