*HMS Shannon. An interesting grape shot cannon ball, painted in gold on black H.M. Ship Shannon 1813 within a wreath on a contemporary carved oak stand, total height 17.5cm high, together with a 1920s black and white photograph of a roll of honour erected in 1927 for Shannon and Chesapeake, 14.5 x 9cm, mount aperture, framed and glazed HMS Shannon was a 38-gun Leda-class frigate of the Royal Navy. She was launched in 1806 and served throughout the Napoleonic Wars and War of 1812. Her noteworthy victory was on 1 June 1813 when she captured the American Navy's USS Chesapeake off Boston Harbour. Despite the fact that the ships were evenly matched, Chesapeake was captured in less than 15 minutes, in what was to be known as one of history's deadliest single ship actions. (2)
*Royal Navy Destroyer. A good scale model of the Royal Navy Destroyer D98, HMS York, finely built in wood and plastic with cabin, gun deck and helicopter launching pad 150 cm long, with remote control HMS York was a Batch III Type 42 Destroyer built by Swan Hunter, Tyne and Wear, laid down in 1980, launched in 1982, commissioned in 1985, she served in the Persian Gulf, Australia and took part in the invasion of Iraq in 2003, she was decommissioned in 2012 and scrapped in Turkey in 2015. HMS York was the Royal Navy's fastest Destroyer. (1)
*Propeller. A rare walnut aircraft propeller by Lucien Chauviere c.1913/14 for a Type B, Franco British Aviation (F.B.A.) Reconnaissance Flying Boat as used by the R.N.A.S and other Navies, of laminated wood with sheathed brass tips and decals various stamps including F.B.A. and Gn 100 Mono, reverse side Numero 26527, Serie 2317, 261cm long overall, the boss has at one time accommodated a clock The FBA Type B was a reconnaissance flying boat produced in France prior to WWI. The design originated with patents by Donnet-Leveque and had three type A, B & C, type B & C had two bay wings which otherwise only differed in the engine installed, with the type B using 75kW (100hp) Gnome Monosoupape and the type C using a 97kw (hp) Clerget 9B. The RNAS contracted 20 type B's. The French Aeronautuique Maritime and Italian Navy also ordered Type B's in 1915. The FBA flying boats were used for naval patrols and frequently were under fire from German and Austro-Hungarian Navy counterparts which led to some being converted to single seaters armed with a machine gun. *WWI ephemera, relating to 5990 Sergeant Alan Wych, MM, 20th Royal Fusiliers, comprising Soldier's pay book, photographs, postcards, British and German maps (the British maps including Machine Gun positions), a French Civil medal privately engraved with Wych's name plus a book by James Hodgson 'Soul of a Solider' detailing the experiences in the 3rd Public Schools Battalion Sergeant A. Wych served with C Company, 20th Royal Fusiliers which were part of Kitchener's 4th New Army and one of the Pals Battalions. They fought on the Somme and at Passchendaele. Sergeant Wynn transferred to the 37th Battalion Machine Gun Corps (139338) and was awarded to the Military Medals "For Bravery in the Field". (a small carton)
