A RETICULATED FAHUA BALUSTER VASE, MEIPING Mid-Ming Dynasty Robustly potted with a high rounded shoulder rising to a waisted neck, skilfully carved in openwork depicting a scene of an acolyte wearing an aubergine robe and carrying a qin wrapped in a yellow cloth, amidst undulating cloud scrolls and pine trees on a turquoise ground, between a band of pierced peony scroll at the shoulder and a lapper border at the foot. 34.8cm (13 3/4in) high Footnotes: 明中期 琺華透雕擕琴訪友圖梅瓶 Provenance: Collection of Alfred Clarke Sotheby's Hong Kong, 17 May 1988, lot 32 The Hall of Refined Elegance, no.
