A Cased 54-Bore Percussion Tranter Patent Second Model Self-Cocking Five-Shot Revolver Retailed By Garden & Son, Piccadilly, London, No. 2,271, Circa 1855 With recoloured octagonal sighted barrel engraved with a band of foliage around the muzzle and with scrolling foliage on each side of the breech, border engraved top-strap with retailer's name and address, bright cylinder with knurled forward edge and decorated with scrolling foliage, blued border engraved frame, bright trigger-guard and butt-cap all decorated en suite, patent double-trigger and detachable rammer, safety-stop, arbor-pin and catch, chequered rounded butt, and some original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including James Dixon & Sons flask with split-ring for suspension, and brass bullet mould, the exterior of the lid with vacant circular brass escutcheon, London proof marks 16.4 cm. barrel Footnotes: Provenance Sold in these Rooms, Antique Arms, Armour & Modern Sporting Guns, 25 July 2012, lot 288 The Penrose Collection Garden & Son are recorded as army accoutrement makers and gun suppliers at 200 Piccadilly, London between 1852 and 1888 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
