1796. The Attorney's Cavalry cross belt plate. A brass oval convex cross belt plate engraved to the centre with a crown over Maid of Erin harp A" and "C" left and right, ribbons inscribed above and below "FOR OUR KING" and "AND COUNTRY", hook and pair of fixing studs to reverse. Rare." The Attorney's Cavalry, a mounted volunteer unit for the City of Dublin, was formed circa 1798 and consisted of two troops, each of three officers and fifty men. The 1803 Volunteer List shows Christopher Abbott as the commanding officer of the 2nd Troop. The unit was disbanded circa 1808 3¼ x 2.40in. (8.26 x 6.10cm)
