Flemish 17thC. - Landscape with Philosopher - Domenico Campagnola drawing / Description: Sat sibi philosophus comes est intentus Olÿmpo Multa dei artificis speculans miracula dextre (Satisfied with himself is the philosopher's count intent on Olympus, beholding many miracles of the god's artificer on his right hand). Mariette noted that the print was in his time (17-18thC.) attributed to Lucas Van Uden (1595-1673) and retouched with burin by SA Bolswert. Despite the inscription Tutianus invenit (sic) in bottom lright corner, today there is a tendency to recognize the author of the drawings as a late Domenico Campagnola, or one of his pupils. The print makes part of a series (24) with on title print the address of Herman de Neyt, an antiquarian and painter from Antwerp who died in 1642. From this data we can deduce that the etching was engraved and printed previously. / Dimensions: 23,30 x 38,00 cm / Condition: A good impression with full plate border and good margins on laid paper. No folds, tears or stains, top margin slightly wrinkled. In bottom left corner part of an 18th century's (?) unidentified hand drawn collection mark. / Literature: Cat. "Images from Titian", De Luca, 1976, edited by Maria Catelli Isola, n. 114 - 115; Cat. "Homage to Titian", Florence, 1976, edited by Bert. W. Meijer, b. 22 – 23. / Medium: Etching /Circa: Circa 1640 300
