A Spontoon 18th Century The flattened double-edged head with pairs of decorative piercings including hearts and quatrefoils, comprising leaf-shaped blade made in one with the winged base and threaded into the socket of tapering octagonal section multi-faceted between mouldings at the bottom, and with integral side-straps, on the remains of its wooden haft of circular section (old rust patination) 30 cm. head Footnotes: Possibly American or of the type in use there at the time of the Revolution.
