A pair of Victorian silver plates possibly George Clements, London 1838 shaped-circular, reeded rim interspersed with foliate motif, the raised border with an applied crest, a dove proper, in its beak an olive branch, diameter 25.2cm; together with another plate, John Hunt & Robert Roskell, London 1880, also stamped to the underside HUNT & ROSKELL LATE STORR & MORTIMER 7899, shaped-circular, reeded rim with acanthus motifs, the raised border with engraved armorial, diameter 28cm, weight 59.8oz. (3) Footnotes: The single plate with engraved armorial and motto BEPRET BRETOIT FEO. The version of the arms are of the CAZALET family of Fairlawn, Shipbourne, Kent. The arms in various forms were used extensively by William Marshall CAZALET Esq. (1865-1932). He also frequently changed his motto. William Marshall CAZALET was born in St Petersburg and was a notable landowner in Kent, where he served as High Sherrif and later in 1908 he represented Great Britain at the 1908 Olympic Games in jeu de paume, real tennis. He was the son of Edward CAZALET Esq. (1827-1883) by his wife Elizabeth Sutherland MARSHALL (died 1888). In 1893 he married Maud Lucia HERON daughter of Sir John Robert HERON-MAXWELL. Cazalet was painted by John Singer Sargent in 1902, with his horse and wearing a hunting jacket.
