Lovett, John Contact - A Tribute to those who serve Rhodesia (Limited De Luxe- Signed Edition).
In preparing this book, the author had two aims in mind: firstly to pay tribute to the Rhodesian Security Forces and to all those civilians who, in one way or another, contribute to the war effort and, secondly to produce a permanent record of the honours and awards that have been conferred upon Rhodesians during the past eleven years. He hopes he has managed to achieve, at least in some measure, both objectives.
The Roll of honour, the lists of awards and the citations for gallantry are taken up to 31st March 1977- a cut-off point dictated by publishing schedules. Since then, more Rhodesians will have recieved decorations and others, tragically, will have lost their lives in the operational area. It is deeply regretted that their names do not appear in this book. Similarly, and for a number of reasons, I have had to leave out those citations, namely the B.S.A. Police Commissioner's Special Commendations and the Commissioner's Commendations for Gallantry, that relate to the maintenance of civil law and order as opposed to the military defence of the country. This, too is regretted.
Finally, and inevitably, there will be some errors in and omissions from the various rolls. The appropriate information has been carefully compiled from official sources, with the invaluable assistance of busy people in various Government and military establishments who are concerned principally with the winning, rather than the recording, of the war, and it is published here in good faith.
Limited- Collector's Edition. No 79 of 115 copies only. Bound in grey elephant hide with brass framed edges and with emblem on front cover. Illustrated throughout. In matching slipcase with outer box(Rubbed).
Signed by the author on the title page and there is a presentation page, signed by the Presidents of Rhodesia, including Ian Smith, J. Wrathall, Dupont, plus commanders of the army,Lieutenant General Walls, Air Marshall McLaren, Lieutentant General J.S.V. Hickman and others. 240 pages text with numerous supporting photographs, images and detailed Rolls of Honour etc. Some plates in full colour.
