A Wrist Rest, 18th century, the composite slide pierced and carved on one end with a dragon, the other with foliage and joined by a silver sheath and with a silver dragon-engraved support, 18.8cm CONDITION REPORT: We believe the smaller floral section of jade to be of earlier date than the larger dragon carved section. The silver mounts may be disguising flaws and possibly a join, but have not been removed to confirm. No obvious other faults.

A Box and Cover, 18th and 20th century, the domed cover probably originally from a rui sceptre, carved with a double xi within large twin fish, peony, vase and hat, set on a well engraved soapstone base, carved with scrolls and dyed to simulate spinach-green jade, 14.2cm CONDITION REPORT: The lid rim and interior underside are not jade, only the carved cover is jade. Rui and base with no obvious faults.

Featured to lower center is a resting wise man with attendant nearby, urging his master to carry on his path. Even toned pale green jade color throughout with russet pebbling to outer uncarved area. Circa late Qing dynasty period, 19th century. Includes wooden fitted base. Measures 8 3/4" height x 5 5/8" width + 1 1/2" base height (22.2cm x 14.2cm + 3.8cm). Jade weight of 3548 grams.

This carving depicts what is called `Kong Cheng Ji` or the `Stratagem of the Empty City` where occupants completely open the gates of a non-fortified city to confuse and frighten approaching armies. In the last photo a depiction of the `West City` can be seen. Glowing translucent white jade specimen with russet suffusions. Includes fitted wooden base. Measures 9 3/4" height x 7 1/4" width + 2 1/4" base height (24.7cm x 5.7cm). Jade weight of 3152 grams. Provenance: From an important collection owned by a former Italian Ambassador to China.

2pc BENSABBOT STERLING & JADE HOOK LETTER SET A stunning Bensabbot, Chicago sterling silver desk set including a gold wash magnifying glass and letter opener. Each item mounted with figural hand carved jade garment hook. Finely carved depicting Chih Lung dragons. Each slightly curved with button to bottom. Both specimens of glowing white jade to pale green jade. Some slight russet mottling. Magnifying glass holds `BENSABBOT STERLING` mark. Magnifying glass measures 10 1/2" length x 4 1/4" width (26.6cm x 10.7cm), with the handle measuring approx. 5 1/8" length (13cm). Letter opener measures 12" length (30.4cm). Jade circa Qing Dynasty period, 18th/19th century. Decorated by Bensabbot circa 19th to early 20th century. Total weight of 582 grams. A very similar magnifying glass piece sold at Bonhams, San Francisco, auction 19094, `Chinese Works of Art` sale, March, 15 2011 for $6,100, including buyer`s premium.
