CHINESE CARVED WHITE JADE RELIEF BOULDER A Chinese hand carved white jade boulder depicting a mountain city scene. This carving depicts what is called `Kong Cheng Ji` or the `Stratagem of the Empty City` where occupants completely open the gates of a non-fortified city to confuse and frighten approaching armies. In the last photo a depiction of the `West City` can be seen. Glowing translucent white jade specimen with russet suffusions. Includes fitted wooden base. Measures 9 3/4" height x 7 1/4" width + 2 1/4" base height (24.7cm x 5.7cm). Jade weight of 3152 grams. Provenance: From an important collection owned by a former Italian Ambassador to China.
