Michael Cardew (1901-1983) - a Winchcombe pottery glazed terracotta circular cheese dish and cover, the domed cover with integral handle, with abstract swirl decoration, impressed monogram and studio marks verso, dia.26cm; together with a near-matching squat vase, of slightly shouldered tapering form, impressed marks verso, h.10cm (2)Condition report: Cheese dish – approx. 20x10mm chip to outer edge of top rim, several glaze losses to central areas, further small chips to edged extremities, inside with unfinished glaze inconsistencies throughout, cover good overall, dish and cover both finely crazed.Vase – fritting to glaze at top rim, finely crazed throughout, otherwise good.
