Helen Bradley, 1900-1970, Morris dancers, signed; inscribed on a label attached to the reverse, oil on canvas board, in the artist's painted frame, 30.5x17cm.; 12x6 3/4in. The insription on the reverse reads: "George, listen to that sound, it's bells, lots of little bells. Let us go and see what it is," so George and I hurried into the High Street, and saw the Clog Dancers making their way to the open space in front of the Red Lion. " Let us ask mother if we can go and watch." Mother agreed, "but" she said "five minutes and then Aunt Mary will come along and bring you both back", Aunt Mary was very nice, when one of the Clog Dancers said "come along all you people and join in", we did and it was lovely and the year was 1907. Euro 11,500-17,200.
